Greg and I met on Match in 2017. He slid into my DM's with a Harry Potter joke. I had a photo of me at Platform 9 3/4 with a caption that said, "Accio boyfriend." He responded to the photo and said, "I hate when that spell doesn't work." I responded back and said, "Oh, so you don't have a boyfriend either?"
And that's when he fell in love with me.
Okay, okay, okay...we did meet online, and he did throw out a Harry Potter joke, and we started dating exclusively pretty close after that. Our first date was at Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum in Farmington Hills, Michigan. I got like 4oo more tickets than Greg. This is where I realized that I am highly competitive and he is highly not competitive.
Our first date lasted a long time because, in my complete nervousness, I left my car lights on. My battery was dead by the time we came out and I needed a jump. Greg had already left when I discovered this, but for some reason, I called him. And for some reason, he answered. And he came back and helped me. Neither of us could find jumper cables in our trunk, so we walked around the parking lot asking people. Nobody had them, either.
Greg thought they sold them at the Dollar Tree. I told him that they absolutely do not. That was our first fight.
After literally an hour of looking, asking people, and walking around a strip mall talking, my dad had to drive out to Farmington Hills to jump my car. He was PISSED because it was like a 40-minute drive. So yeah, Greg met my dad on our first date like we were proper 15-year-olds.
A few days later, he text me a picture. It was him, holding jumper cables. He said, "I'm ready for our second date." And well, the rest was history.
