Our Story

Our Love Story

Some love stories unfold like a fairy tale. Ours? Well, it’s more like a comedy-drama with a sprinkling of fate and a whole lot of Greggs.

We first met in 2016 through mutual friends. It wasn’t love at first sight, but the spark was definitely there—just not quite ready to ignite. Life pulled us apart, but in 2017, Michael decided to give it another shot (fate? Boredom? We’ll never know). And this time, he came in swinging. A few weeks—maybe months—later, on 14th June, 2017, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Yes, it was cringe. Yes, I said yes. And that was the beginning of Michael and Leah.

From the start, I knew he was the one. My mum absolutely adored him, and my stepdad Gary had finally found someone who could banter about football and watch Rangers games with him. To me, he wasn’t just a boyfriend; he was family.

Fast forward to 2019, when Michael made the bold (and slightly insane) decision to move to England with me. This was a huge step for a 20-year-old lad from Scotland. His one condition? “I’m only coming if there’s a Greggs.” That was it. That was the moment I knew I was stuck with him forever, whether he liked it or not.

The years that followed were nothing short of a rollercoaster. From the highs to the lockdown lows, from laughing until we cried to arguing over who ate my Mars bar (100% Michael), we grew stronger together.

And then came Christmas Day 2023. Surrounded by family at my sister’s house, Michael put on his big boy pants (finally) and got down on one knee. To say I cried would be an understatement—I sobbed. After all these years, this boy who’s been my rock, my unpaid therapist, and my biggest pain in the arse finally made it official.

I’ve loved Michael since I was 16, and I’ll love him forever. He drives me mad, makes me laugh until my sides hurt, and reminds me every day why it’s always been him.

Here’s to a lifetime of Leah and Michael ❤️
