Leah and Cameron met in Advanced Heat Transfer at the Colorado School of Mines. Leah immediately noticed that Cameron was doing well in the class and struck up a friendship in hopes that her cute classmate would give her some of the answers to the homework. Meanwhile Cameron enjoyed having a new friend to study with, but was confused by all of Leah's technical arguments. Eventually they decided to work on a class project together. However the night before it was due, Cameron bailed on finishing it because he had an important interview the next day. Despite this betrayal, Leah was was sad that her friend was graduating and was left with a feeling of wishing they could get to know each other more.

Eventually, Leah and Cameron graduated and they didn't see each other again until a mutual friend made them realize they were both living in Los Alamos where they re-connected as friends. Cameron remembers going on a hike with Leah and stating that he was looking for a relationship that grew "organically" in the hopes that Leah would take a hint. They started dating shortly after in the summer of 2023. A year after that they moved in together with their four pets, and another year later were engaged!
