Wedding Day Details

A mandatory shuttle service will depart from Hotel Indigo to the venue at 3pm. We will have two shuttles departing at different times from the venue back to Hotel Indigo. If you are not staying at Hotel Indigo, then there is ample parking across the street from Hotel Indigo or it should be seamless to obtain an Uber back to an Ashville hotel.  Attire for the evening is formal. Dress for chilly weather 60s in the day 40s in the evening.   Provide your cell phone number in the RSVP for updates on meeting the Bride and Groom for drinks during wedding weekend.

Our Wedding

The Marshall family will be bussing guests to and from the venue - Pick up and drop off will be at Hotel Indigo in Ashville, NC. To accommodate a variety of guests' bedtime preferences we will have various departure times from the venue back to Hotel Indigo. However, we do encourage you to stay until the end of the evening for a farewell fireworks show. Attire for the evening is Black Tie - Dress for 50-60 degree weather.

Our Love Story

[*LJ Editors note: Brian said my website was not good. I’m not one for wedding websites with long stories. I felt like y’all would just want to know when and where and see some cute pictures. However, marriage is about appeasing both parties right? So, I thought I’d share two snippets from a collection of letters I’ve written to Brian - these will be the first two he sees (surprise Brian). Please excuse the cheesy smiling faces - I choose to keep it raw and vulnerable with the acknowledgment of the parts that make me happy enough to type a cheesy smile. If you just want the where and when of the wedding skip to the “Wedding Day” tab and the “Photos” tab for some cute couple pictures.] ____________Brian 3/17/20 [*B Editors note: 3/17/20 is the date LJ wrote this - dating anniversary is 3/11/2017]After finishing a Nicholas sparks novel, I am reminiscing on the early days of Brian and my love story. Wishing I had better documented my feelings during that time. I know I have written things to him here and there which I am happy about and will be looking to find and make sure I have in safekeeping. I wanted to write what I can remember now.&nbsp; A few of the first memories I have of Brian is that I liked the way he dressed. He had a great picture on his email and he dressed nicely to the office. I remember seeing him eating a giant plate of food at his desk every day - opting to work through lunch. I noticed that he didn’t talk much. He was a hard worker and he was good. Always getting shout-outs in the team meetings and working late.&nbsp; One day I was at the office late and got an email denial from a prospect. I asked our manager at the time, Tommy, what he thought I should respond. Brian quickly piped up that he had something he could send me (I actually forgot about this interaction, but a few years later Brian brought it up as remembering it as the first time we spoke and he said I told him later that his rebuttals suggestion worked :)) We saw each other again at our friend Kate’s birthday party. I lived in the same apartment as her in downtown SLC and Brian showed up with his friend Nick. I hadn’t&nbsp;spoken to Brian prior but Nick had introduced himself to me earlier that week. I went over to talk with Nick and Brian and in conversation, I mentioned to Brian that I noticed he was always sending his daily email reports late at night and that I was slightly embarrassed that I also did the same (our other teammates were lazy ;)), and it made me feel better that there was another hard worker on the team. After I walked away, I heard Brian telling Nick how attractive he thought it was that I worked so hard :). We went to Maxwell’s&nbsp;with our friends and sat in a booth by the bar. I talked with our friend Parker and Brian joined the conversation. All our friends headed to the dance floor and Brian kept talking away. After a little while, I’ll be honest, I was ready for the conversation with Brian to be over so I could join our friends on the dance floor. Not wanting to be rude, I asked Brian if he wanted to go dance...he looked surprised (I’m guessing not ready to show me his dance moves), We got Brian his liquid courage&nbsp;and headed to the dance floor. (Editors note, you’ll all get to see the dance moves that won me over at our wedding!) Later that week at work I tip-toed over to his desk when he wasn’t there to peek at his books. I thought it was so cute&nbsp;that he was an avid reader. The next day I used it as an excuse to talk to him and asked him to borrow a book once everyone had left for the day. We talked for 2-3 hours and time flew by like it was minutes. That when I started to realize that this was something special.&nbsp; Brian pointed out my book on how to win friends and influence people. He was “casually” impressed that I had read, highlighted, and tabbed pages in the book. I told him I want to be a CEO and he asked me how I was so confident in telling people that. I learned later that this is when Brian started to think that this was something special.&nbsp; One Saturday I was texting him and he said he was in Provo at the office. I was hoping he would say that because I wanted to work also and I couldn’t get an application to work properly on my laptop. So I drove all the way down to work by his side. There were a few other people there to my surprise. At the end of the day, he asked if I wanted to go on a hike. We went over to the Y mountain. I was struggling and panting the entire way up lol and we took frequent breaks to “enjoy the view”. Once we reached the top of the Y I saw a side trail leading up to some rocks. I lead us up the path and we found this little private ledge to sit on. We sat down and watched the sunset over the lake and the other mountains. It was beautiful. We talked about our goals, morals, values and had so much in common. When he spoke it felt like he took the words out of my mouth. And by the look on his face when I talked I sensed he felt the same. It was on the walk down from this mountain that I had the feeling in my stomach that this was definitely special and that this would be the man I would marry. That date was 3.11.2017 which is the day we consider our dating anniversary.

Our Engagement

Dear Brian, Tonight you asked me to marry you! I couldn’t be more ecstatic. I wanted to write about the day, so the memory will be written forever to keep.&nbsp; We drove out on Thursday night to Sunset Beach to look at houses. It is a Friday morning and I’m working in our hotel room at the Sunset Inn with Ella. You go for a long run as usual and I’m starting to get hungry. You come back and I ask if you’ll get me lunch, you happily oblige. I had no idea I gave you the excuse you needed to set up for the evening. I found out later that you ran into all the little shops on Sunset Beach looking for flowers and asking for an idea of where to propose. You met the sweet woman at the local conscience store and she offered to help. While you were out buying my lunch you were able to pick up flowers and drop them off with the owner of the shop.&nbsp; On Friday afternoon we drove all around the southernmost point of North Carolina in search of our first home together. That evening I sat on the patio of the Sunset Inn with Ella enjoying watching Ella’s first sight of a deer. You told me later that you were so nervous that you were pacing around the hotel room and pretending to stall time on your laptop. I had no idea.&nbsp; You asked to go to the pier bar that you saw on your run for a drink before dinner. I again set you up for success by asking if we could walk on the beach. I hadn’t seen it yet and wanted to see how nice it was. We walked along the beach and under the pier. I talked about how beautiful and soft the pure white sand was, then I said okay are you ready to go on the pier for a drink. You said “one minute” and I said “oh no” because I knew what was coming and frankly I didn’t like my outfit. I knew I should have changed!&nbsp; You looked me in the eyes and told me, “Leah, I love you so much. You mean the world to me and I couldn’t imagine my life without you in it. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” You got down on one knee pulled the ring out and finished, “will you marry me?” Of course, I said yes! You awkwardly handed me the box with your hands shaking (hahaha) and people around us cheered. We both had mixed feelings of slight embarrassment and excitement.&nbsp; Some strangers shared pictures they took and then we walked up towards the pier. You said there was one more surprise and I didn’t know what to expect! Then, the lady you met earlier and her husband&nbsp;brought me the beautiful flowers you bought! And you all recounted the full story of the day for me.&nbsp; We finished the evening with the perfect engagement dinner by sharing a jumbo margarita and tacos. You were upset that there were no fine dining options open on the island but honestly, it couldn’t have been more suiting.&nbsp; Now we will have the memory of the day in writing forever.&nbsp; I love you Leah Jane
