How We Met/First date

Jacob and Leah matched on Hinge in the end of January 2022. Leah was Jacob's first ever hinge date and lucky for him, his last. Leah however had to date many hinge duds before finding this gem!

Their first date was on February 4th at Lockwood Distillery where after 3 hours they realized the restaurant was closed and they were the last ones there. After walking out he got her number and asked if it was okay if he called her the next day.

Becoming Boyfriend and Girlfriend

On March 6th after going to Ikea and Trader Joes, Leah asked Jacob (not very subtly) if he thought about when he was going to ask her to be his girlfriend or if he wanted to do that. To which he responded of course he thought about it and wanted to ask. So right there in the car on the corner of Preston and Belt Line Jacob asked Leah to be his girlfriend. He was so nervous he immediately ran over the curb when turning the corner!

Engagement

Those who are close to Leah, know she was waiting patiently, or not so patiently depending on the day, for Jacob to propose to her. Leah knew things would happen soon but had no idea exactly when. They had plans to go into Waco for the weekend for Easter, so she knew it couldn't happen then. Her parents live three hours away in Houston on top of her dad being a Pastor on one of the most important weekends in the Christian community. On Saturday morning March 30th, the kids prepared for an Easter egg hunt in the yard, which they had done in previous years.

Jacob's brother Ben invited them to go into town after the egg hunt as his way of encouraging Leah to get the heck out of her pajamas and into some real clothes!

After taking a few pictures outside, the hunt started.

Leah began frantically running around looking for the "golden egg" which usually held the most money and boy did she get the most expensive gift! She noticed as she was running, Jacob was just kinda meandering around not really gathering many eggs so she assumed he was looking for the golden egg. About 30 seconds into the egg hunt, she finds the giant golden egg behind a bench in the yard and excitedly runs over and grabs it and turns to walk away. Jacob interupts her and says "Hey I think there is something else there!" Leah's immediate thoughts were, "Another egg?" and as she turned around she saw him picking up the ring box from the floor. Her shocked response was 'No no no no" because she could not believe it was happening. Then Jacob said a whole bunch of things they can't remember and got down on one knee and proposed to her.

To their surpirse she shed no tears..that is until her parents and best friends all came running out to surprise her and the floodgates opened.

Being engaged has been one of the greatest joys for the two of them. Getting to think about their future and plan a wedding has been hard but oh so worth it. They both feel thankful for the work the Lord did in their lives in the 2 years leading up to that beautiful day.
