The year was 2018. Leah was working for Mars and living in Morristown, NJ. Shortly after her 25th birthday, she matched with a cute guy on the dating app Hinge. Besides being cute, she liked that he listed the same silly tv shows she liked and thought it was cool he spent a few years playing professional baseball.
After exchanging a few messages, Brett asked Leah to get a drink at a bar in town. On their first date, she learned he had returned home just 3 days prior from Washington, where he spent the season working for the Seattle Mariners. He grew up in the Morristown area, and so the two continued to see each other while Brett looked for his next opportunity in baseball.
Like soon turned into love, and when Brett had to move to Richard to work for the San Francisco Giants’ AA team (Go Flying Squirrels!), they continued their relationship long distance. Brett began to see that working in baseball was more draining than fulfilling, and after the season looked for a job in NYC.
In February of 2020 Leah and Brett moved in together in a tiny apartment in Hoboken, reasoning they would be spending most of their time out of the apartment and in the city. 2020 did not like that plan. But 3 months into the pandemic they welcome their four legged son Gizmo into their lives. He has his father’s eyes and his mother’s attitude.
In August of 2022, Brett and Leah went out to dinner in Jersey City, their current hometown, and went for a walk along the water overlooking NYC. Soon he was down on one knee asking for Leah’s hand in marriage.
The couple cannot wait to celebrate their love with you this coming April!
