Beaches & Hikes

You can't come to Saugatuck without hittin the lakeshore! Dunes, beach grass and crystal clear water coming your way.

Oval Beach: a Saugatuck/Douglas staple, recognized by Conde Nast for being beautiful.

Saugatuck Dunes State Park: a hike through woods into rolling dunes takes you to a perfect (no bias, obviously) strip of beach. Our favorite trail is starting on the South Dunes Loop, walking north up the beach and coming back on Livingston Trail. Warning: you'll have no cell service here, so heres a map!

Holland State Park: very popular wide open beach with clear water. Entry fee for non-Michigan residents; watch out, no booze strictly enforced (ask Meg about this sometime...)

Mount Baldhead Stairs: climb 282 steps up to a scenic overlook of Saugatuck & Lake Kalamazoo as well as Lake Michigan, with the option to hike down into Oval Beach!
