Our Wedding

At last...

Zig and Leigh’s love story began at another wedding in 2023, the marriage of two members of their wedding party, Jim and Maria Cordero. As each of them attended the wedding solo, they were placed at the same table. As the reception began and everyone took their seats, Zig took the last remaining seat at the table, next to Leigh. Zig and Leigh talked, laughed and danced all evening, bonding over 80’s music, movies, how they grew up, shared experiences and family.

The night we met

After we said good night, and went our separate ways, both knew this was different. Zig’s friend Lica, also in the wedding party, encouraged Zig to ask Leigh to brunch. Leigh asked Zig if he could work anywhere since he taught on-line, to which he replied, “Yes. Have laptop, will travel.”

The next day

After, what seemed like an eternity, of FaceTime calls and texts, Leigh invited Zig to spend the weekend at her home in Palm Desert. Their bond only increased, and they decided to spend more and more time together. The weekend turned into a week and both knew they found something special.

Our first date

Leigh and Zig’s first trip together was epic! U2, amazing food at Hell’s Kitchen, lots of laughs, and the world’s largest avocado toast! That’s all we can share. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. 😂

Leigh was overwhelmed with kindness, laughter and love and knew she had the blessing of the family. Leigh had a master class in making lumpia from Ligaya and Nora. The family fully embraced Leigh and even gave her props for her bingo skills.

Leigh and Zig’s bond was undeniable as they spent more time together and shared so many adventures.

Zig and Leigh spent more than half a century waiting for their soul mates. Both had nearly given up and accepted life as a single person. But these thoughts are far behind them now. The future is bright and the possibilities endless!

She said yes!

Zig and Leigh were so excited to share the news with Leigh’s family. Leigh’s sisters, Janne and Brooke, celebrated with them in style! We love this photo!

Sharing the good news

Brooke, Leigh, and Zig took Dad out for a Father’s Day brunch and shared news of their engagement. He had one word for the couple, “Hallelujah”.

It has been an eventful year filled with special memories and big life changes. Not long after their engagement, Zig moved to Palm Desert to be with Leigh. Two months later, Leigh accepted a new job working for the Riverside County Office of Education more than 60 miles away in Riverside. After 8 months of commuting 3 hours a day, we sold the Palm Desert house and bought a home together in Riverside.

Moving, then moving again

The greatest gift to us is to celebrate our wedding with our family and closest friends.
