It's really a matter of preference as to which airport you want to fly into, but in terms of total travel time it's very close.Fly into Savannah, GA and drive 1.5 hours south. ORFly into Jacksonville, FL and drive 1 hour north. Most airlines have extended their reservation schedules through our wedding weekend by now, so please plan accordingly.You'll likely have to rent a car, so booking flights with others you know would seem to be the way to go, splitting the car once at the airport. Most major car rental companies are available at both airports.

Travel By Air

This is where the Wedding will be on Saturday evening. Located on St. Simons Island, this is a full accommodation hotel on the Beach, with Pool, Tennis, a small Spa and a Gym. It also has Golf about 15 minutes away. We are taking a block of rooms for guests which will make Room Rates very reasonable, and there are one-to-five bedroom suites and condos which may be even more financially viable.Please reference the Raines-Lindenbaum Wedding.PLEASE BE SURE TO ASK FOR AN EARLY CHECK-IN. Hotel policy is 3pm or 4pm; this doesn't leave much time before the shuttle comes for the rehearsal dinner. The balance of the room cost is due upon the guest's arrival. Located on St. Simons Island with close proximity to Sea Island, this hotel provides free shuttles and access to all Sea Island amenities. We took a small block of rooms, and room rates are very reasonable. With a pool, small workout center and casual restaurant, walk to shopping, movies and a variety of restaurants, this is the only St. Simons Island hotel with access to full Sea Island amenities, and is closer (but still a drive) to the main SSI beach and Village.Please reference the Raines-Lindenbaum WeddingWedding block rate $165/nightBook by September 28, 2015.

The Inn at Sea Island

For those who want to stay in a group, be on Sea Island, and in most cases have access to Sea Island's amenities, this is a terrific option. With four, five, six and seven bedroom homes available, you can stay with friends, walk to the ocean, and be close to The Cloister, Beach Club and Spa. Sea Island Cottages

This is the premier property on Sea Island, with several restaurants including the River Bar, Tavola and the Georgian Room (very high end). It is the centerpiece of the entire Sea Island experience, and provides access to the resort's 65,000 square foot Spa and Workout Center, and its private Beach Club on the ocean, with indoor / outdoor restaurants and four pools. Walk to Tennis, the Shooting School, Kayaking and Boat Tours. The Cloister at Sea Island

Although located on St. Simons Island, The Lodge is part of the main Sea Island experience (all Sea Island amenities included), with accommodations rivaling those at The Cloister. For golfers, this may be your haven as the two main Sea Island Club courses are located on property. As elegant as the Cloister in a more rustic setting, The Lodge sports one of the most gracious (and famous) locker facilities in the Country, with full bar, restaurant area and working fireplace. The Oak Room for casual dining and Colt &amp; Alison for fine dining are truly wonderful, as is the Bagpiper, who plays every evening for one hour at sunset on the 10th hole of Plantation, overlooking the Sea. The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club

The Beach Club is part of The Cloister Resort with access to all amenities. Some people prefer the Beach Club because it is on the ocean and the rooms are just as nice as The Cloister and The Lodge. In addition, you are at the pool area, and still walking distance to the 65,000 square foot spa and workout center.Rates from $400-$425/night.

Travel

There are multiple resort, hotel and private housing options on Sea Island and St. Simons Island, any of which could be excellent resources, depending upon your weekend preferences. The Islands are separated by a one-mile causeway, and no location for any of the festivities is further than a 15-20 minute ride. Sea Island is famous for its pristine landscape, luxury homes, miles of beach, world class golf and the Five Star Cloister Hotel, Beach Club and Spa. If you want luxury and a quieter setting, this will be your choice to spend most of your time. You do have to drive to golf, but the courses are the best within the two Islands. St. Simons Island has more of the traditional southern beach and village experience, with multiple restaurants, bars, and night spots. The Wedding is at The King and Prince Resort &amp; Beach Club on St. Simons Island, near the main Village, quaint shopping and the overall beach community. It's more of a party atmosphere, with ethnic food and the famous Southern Soul Restaurant (of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, a true dive with the best pulled pork and sweet sauce sandwich of all time).

The Area

Sea Island is going to close the Seaside and Plantation golf courses starting Saturday, November 14th. This is to get ready for the McGladrey Classic, the PGA Tour stop tournament that starts on November 16th there.There is a third Sea Island Club course, Retreat, that will remain open. Seaside and Plantation are the two courses that start at The Lodge, so you will have access to them on Friday, but starting Saturday only Retreat will be open for play. (Retreat is a mile away).If you plan on staying at The Lodge (and The Cloister and Sea Island Inn), and want to play either the Seaside or Plantation courses, you should plan to take an early plane Friday (or late plane Thursday), to get on by early afternoon to get the round in on Friday November 13th. Seaside, which used to have all of the McGladrey and still has most of it, is a Top 20 Resort course and the best course in the entire Sea Island / Saint Simons Island complex. It is worth coming early to play.There is also a great course at the King and Prince Resort.If you're a golfer, you've got options.
