Lemon Cookies

While very delicious, most do not know they were an integral part of our future relationship.

On November 10th, 2018, we both happened to be at the same Powerlifting meet – Tommy competing – Me, supporting other friends. It just so happened that Tommys “handler” (for those who don’t know you get a person to make sure you eat/drink water/and warm up for these competitions) was a good friend of us both. He knew I was well versed in powerlifting and sat tommy next to me and said, “WATCH HIM”. Which I did …

The first thing he said to me was ...”You want some lemon cookies?” This was his breaking the ice moment as we spent way too much time talking and not enough actually preparing for his lifts.

Sadly, after that meet.. it seemed like we would never talk again - just passing in the wind

BUT…Fast forward! Tommy sends a message on Instagram not thinking he’d get a reply. Well.. He got an answer!

It started as friendly banter, but as time went on it progressed to daily calls that lasted for hours filled with laughter, serious conversation and everything in between. We both knew in the back of our heads. This is becoming my best friend.

Given the distance at the time (Philly to Ephrata) we couldn’t see each other as much as we’d like but that never stopped us from having our first actual date ( a year to the day after meeting) We met at the gym to have a lift and went to Conshohocken brewery for a snack. What we thought would be a quick meetup, turned into a WHOLE DAY date exploring Philadelphia food and bars (We are both big foodies so this was the best date ever) and this was the start of going steady!

It did not take us long to realize – “this is my person…I don’t want anyone else”.

And given the trials we’ve been through in the past years, as most of you know – we’ve been at each other’s side through the best and worst without question.

SO as the Future Redd family – we cant wait to create lasting memories with you all!
