Leor’s story:

Over 7 years ago, something stood out while swiping through Bumble prospects. I read the words, “existential dread” on Thuy’s profile and became immediately interested. We met up at an ice cream shop called Holy Gelato in San Francisco. She worked there so the ice cream was free. I spilled ice cream on myself and she was convinced I had an accident. Luckily, that did not stop her from wanting to get to know me. We had a romantic moment in the sunset, sitting on mural steps, asking questions, and moving up the stairs to block the sun as it was setting.

By date 2, she shared that she was moving to San Jose for her first nursing job. We both agreed to continue dating but I was certain that it would be very difficult to continue. Over the coming years and through many train rides, long drives, and phone calls, we made it work. Thuy brought food to every date for the first year which kept me hooked. We fell in love and the rest is history!

Thuy’s story:

His profile read, “Leor Paley, 5’ 9’’, Teacher" and aside from the mirror selfie, Leor’s profile was giving nothing but green flags. He was cute, had an impressive mustache and was a self proclaimed comedian. We matched and after some back and forth, we set up a date at the gelato shop I worked at. My coworker was there to make sure he wasn’t a creep and to get a good look at him in case I was reported missing. I remember his goofy smile as he walked in and the red and black jacket he wore that was 3 sizes too big. He went to the bathroom and came out with some wet spots on his pants that he insisted was melted ice cream. I thought he was sweet and decided it was safe to walk to the mosaic steps with him until dark. There, I found out that he embellished his Bumble title of 'teacher' because “there were no options for his niche job on Bumble” but I didn’t care. He was the first guy to keep me thinking about him (in a good way!) after the first date. A month into our relationship, I told my friends I knew I was going to marry him.

We revisited all the locations of our first date on the day of our engagement. Today, we live together in San Jose. Thuy has the same nursing job and I am a recruiter. We have two cats named Morty and Maisel. We enjoy traveling, hosting small parties, and eating incredible food. We love playing games with friends and goofy dancing.
