Two If By Sea
We met in October 2015. At the suggestion of our good friend, Stacy O'Brien, I took a position as mate for a charter catamaran based out of The Marriott in St. Thomas, USVI. Ryan was the captain everyone wanted to work with. We quickly became friends; time passed and the longer we worked together, I realized he was much more than just the "cool captain". Ryan is very professional and takes great pride in his work. He is extremely intelligent, kind and let's not forget, super handsome. It doesn't take much to understand why I'm not embarrassed to say I made the first move 😄. We started dating in April 2016 and have been inseparable ever since. With our shared love of the ocean, sailing, tropical islands and adventure, there is rarely a dull moment in our lives, and this is only the beginning! I cannot wait to see what the future holds!
How He Proposed
We had just returned from an incredible 1,100 mile sailing adventure from St. John, USVI to Carriacou, Grenada and back. We covered over 14 islands and twice as many bays. On our travels we talked about the future. It was known I did not want a traditional diamond ring. Sneaky Ryan, began collecting gemstones throughout the islands. He designed the most incredible ring. Using yellow sapphires, representing the many sunrises and sunsets we've shared (and will continue to share), to compliment the large blue Tanzanite center stone, representing the sea where we spend 99.9% of our lives. It is an ideal representation of our love. Ryan surprised me on HIS birthday at a private restaurant on the beach, ocean waves lapping, with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and our very best friends to celebrate. It could not have been more perfect!
