April 17-23, 2023 - Trip to Fredericksburg which ended with…

April 23, 2023 - Proposal at Lost Oak Winery, Burleson: Greg had purchased a gold & aquamarine necklace that I had admired at the jeweler's. He was just waiting for the perfect place & time to propose.

In Fredericksburg, we went on a tour of (my favorite) Becker Vineyards; he almost asked me there but it wasn't just right. On the way home, I suggested we stop somewhere and take some wildflower pictures. He thought, Yes! That's the perfect place and time! but then it started pouring rain.

Later, I suggested that we stop at Lost Oak Winery on the way to his house to look at the event center that had been recommended to me by Ellen. He thought, “Okay, this is my last chance.” We toured the event center and walked around the property a little. Greg asked if we could go out on the bridge over the pond (see pictures).

He asked me, “So is this the place?” I said, “Yes, this is the place.” He asked, “Do you love it?” I answered, “Yes, I love it.” He got down on one knee there on the bridge, pulled a small box out of his pocket and said, “Leslie Annette Leach, will you marry me?” I answered YES! before he could finish because I was so surprised.

“Wait! I'm not finished! Leslie Annette Leach, you're my sun and my moon, my morning and evening star. Will you marry me?” He opened the box, and I saw the necklace that I had admired at the jeweler's. He had it the whole trip, and I had NO IDEA! It was a perfect stand-in until my ring was ready.

Then when the ring was finally finished, he did the whole thing all over again at my office in the breakroom. 🥰
