How We Met

The moment I met Leslie, I never imagined it would be the beginning of the rest of my life. We first crossed paths at one of my house parties and I honestly chickened out most of the night even when she made her move of giving me a compliment on my costume. But when we started talking, something clicked. Her smile, her laughter, and the way she made me feel instantly at ease, were impossible to ignore.

The First Date

Our first date was at the on campus QDoba at UMW and we both knew almost immediately that this was something special. From the way she looked at me in my cowboy boots and jeans, to the way we could talk about anything and everything, it felt like we had known each other for years. That night as we left we both left feeling excited about what could be.

Falling in Love

We spent the next few months getting to know each other better. What started as casual hangouts quickly became something deeper. I found myself thinking about her all the time, and no matter how much time we spent together, it always felt like there was more to discover. The more time we spent together, the more I realized that she was exactly the kind of person I had been waiting for, someone who challenged me, supported me, and made me feel at home. She became not just my partner, but my best friend, and the person I wanted to share every moment with. We spent hours talking about anything and everything in between. The more we learned about each other, the more we realized how much we truly complemented one another. As we both finished college and graduate school together, we decided to take the next step and move in together in Richmond. Our time in Richmond has been full of adventures, laughter, and growth. We’ve traveled, faced challenges, celebrated milestones, and through it all, we've only gotten closer. There’s something about the way we balance each other out that makes me feel so certain that this is where I’m meant to be, by her side, today and forever.

The Proposal

When the time came about 6 years later….I knew I wanted to make the proposal something special. On a beach in the Bahamas at sunset, I asked the love of my life to marry me. While I said almost nothing that I had rehearsed for weeks in the car, she was jumping up and down giddy about the moment and said yes.

Looking Ahead

Now, as we prepare for our wedding day, I can’t help but feel incredibly lucky to be marrying my best friend, the love of my life, and the person who makes everything feel just right.
