-you may need these for later-

I have been living in Redding, Ca attending ministry school for the past 3 years and at the precipice of life. Living with all of my closest friends and traveling the world. I really thought it couldnt get any better.

I was, what you call a pickleball addict at the time. I was playing multiple times a week for 2 years. I truly believed there was nothing that could get in the way of my undying love for this sport that is mostly popular between the ages of 65-100.

One random day in the middle of the week, I decided I was done doom scrolling in my room. The following decision was a typical one, of which involved poking my head into the goings on of my housemates. This particular day, my roommate Josh Anderson decided to invite an amish girl over to make pretzels. Of course I was immediately intrigued of how he met someone who was amish and convinced them to come into our house full of electricity. I make my way through the living room to discover one Alicia Beiler and I was honestly disappointed that there wasnt a horse and buggy outside but a hair down, Iphone in pocket, and modernly clothed girl. From there, I began to see the process of how to make pretzels and my intrigue stayed true. Everything seemed prepared and ready to go to make pretzels however, we werent as ready as I believed. Unfortunately, the average house of 7 guys doesnt have a metal mixing bowl larger than the size of a car. So we needed to make a trip out to Egypt in which I found that it wasnt that much of an exaggeration. 25 pain staking minutes of driving for a bowl was a foreign thought to me, but little did I know this would be the foot or more like toe in the door to meet the girl that I would marry. We enter in the quaint but cute little house that looked like it was inhabited by well put together women. In the house was a binder that said Bethany Beiler 1st Year. Of course my first thought was wow, Bethany that’s a hot girl name. Alicia had briefly mentioned she had a sister, but I never could’ve pictured this name going as far as it has. The pretzels we had later that day were divine and I immediately knew I wanted to be friends with the Beilers. This quickly grew into a friendship between Alicia and myself.

Following this day dedicated to pretzels, was back to the norm of playing pickleball. The group was this Josh, Noel, (newly added Alicia) Huddy, & myself. However, this particular day Alicia had closed my curiosity of who the hot girl was on the binder I had read at her house. This was none other than Bethany, a weird girl who decided to bring a blanket and a book to play pickleball. I started to ask her questions while waiting on the sidelines anxiously for the next game and quickly realized the Bethany was the most genuine, sweet, and sassy girl I have ever met. From Christmas tree lighting, game nights, getting a duck tattoo on my hand, to making multiple trips out to the Beiler girls in Egypt. Over time I realized I was going out there because I had found a family away from home and this statement has reigned true as I’ve met more and more of the Beilers. I came to the conclusion that I was quickly developing feelings for Bethany Beiler. Wait no, I cant ask Bethany out I dont want to lose the family I had been searching for the entire time I was in California.

Day after day with feelings progressing more and more for Bethany. I was at the end of myself and decided that today is the day. I had (in creepy like fashion) followed her out in the hallway after our class and was working up every available will in me to just simply ask her on a date. I had given up hope and walked back in the classroom and decided I would ask her a different day. In that same moment Noel asks me how did it go brah? I responded “just couldn’t find the right time. Noel said it’s now or never bud.
Then began to pray for me for bravery. I was QUICKLY insulted!!! I’M FINE, I’LL GO RIGHT NOW! I had searched around for her throughout the building and finally find her and asked the question I had been waiting to. The response I get? I’ve never been on a date before, but yes. I tried to play it cool until I made it out of the building and then in the parking lot with the biggest smile on my face I bro hugged Noel and said first mission accomplished. From that moment on, everyday I spent time with Bethany I was getting closer and closer to knowing that she’s the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. From me saying the dumbest phrases like secure the bag on our first date when answering her question why did you ask me out to I love you in the first week of our relationship. We’ve been through honeymoon days and difficult times and there’s truly no one else who I’d rather navigate life with than Bethany Dawn Beiler.

Ps. I haven’t played pickleball since.
“Final mission accomplished”
