At just 10, we found ourselves in a friendship that was unmatched. Tyler was seeing me every weekend at the park from sun up to sun down and walking me home after but never making the corner.😂 One day he finally came and met my mom, then he was at my birthday party's, then life got in the way and we started to grow up and grow apart. 6 years later, I added him on Snapchat again, and he gave me his number. We started talking, and he came to see me ride his bike from Marrero to Gretna. 😂 picked up where we left off; it was like we never left that turned into calls every night all night long. Then we just lost touch again; this time it hurt. I got really close with his sister; we hung out every day; it was like a price of him being with me always. Then the phone calls from unknown numbers started coming in for weeks. When I finally answered, Tyler asked me to be his girlfriend. I knew what he was going through, so of course I said yes, but it wasn’t that easy this time. We didn’t see each other, and Barley talked on the phone, so we ended things. Not even a month later, he got put into my school, so now we are seeing each other every day. I’m helping him with school. I’m staying after school just to “bank“ with him, but we knew that the timing just wasn’t right, but that didn’t stop the calls. One night I was on the phone with him, and my dad walked in and asked who I was on the phone with (my dad is hard of hearing). I said nobody, and he said if you're going to hotel me, I'm going to name him Newt, and boy did that stick now back to the story that didn’t stop the coming to see me, so finally he asked me to be his girl again. I was 17 and almost 18 at 18, I got pregnant with Kason, and it’s been a ride ever since. It hasn’t always been lollipops and rainbows, but I never liked lollipops anyways 😂 Here’s to growing with each other and finding the best version of ourselves together.
