Lexi & Josh

Where it all started…

2009 Pine Ridge Middle School. We wore uniforms, and the school did random days where you could dress according to a chosen theme to have a break from our boring collared shirts. One day, the theme was sports related. Well, Josh and I were repping the same team… and he apparently really liked my Red Sox jersey and let me know about it. I was at my best friend at the time Courtney Emert’s locker, and I asked her if she knew who he was, to which she told me she knew OF him quite well… but had never spoken to him personally. First thing I did when I got home from school that day was go on my giant bulky desktop in Mom’s bedroom and jump right on Facebook to find his profile!!! (Facebook was extremely new and popular at this time.) We started messaging each other all the time which was the only way we could talk being we weren’t in the same grade. Sometimes we would ooVoo (iykyk) for hours. My dad is the reason I’m a Red Sox fan. Around this time also, JetBlue Park had just been finished. He had an idea to tour the stadium before it opened to the public…. I obviously told Josh about it, and we actually went together and signed the left field foul pole! Still just friends though….

When it finally began….

2015. Yes. It took SIX YEARS for him to finally notice I was right there in front of him. We both “dated” other people in between all that time in high school, but I always had Josh in the back of my mind. If he called, I answered the first ring- boyfriend or not. One of my favorite things to do each year, is attend the City of Naples Christmas Parade on 5th avenue. Funny enough, I actually had a different boyfriend during those summer/fall months that year. I then starting hearing my mom in my head “Ignore him and it’ll drive him crazy” … Mom’s always right. I was starting to get WAY more texts being I’d never not answered. It escalated to good morning texts, all day texting me, until I couldn’t take it anymore and started to answer back. It’s now December, it’s gone from extremely short answers from my end to just giving in and having full text conversations with him (which is all I wanted to do anyways). Fast forward to the night of the parade, Josh asks me who I’m going with knowing it’s a tradition of mine, and if he can come. I told him I was going with just a friend, so it was fine to tag along (every part of me wanted him to join… boyfriend who?) We end up having an amazing time. He offered to take me home, I told him hell yes. We arrive at my house, he walks me inside to my childhood bedroom, and tells me he wants me to be his girlfriend. I say YES are you kidding? He says but I thought you had a boyfriend? …That poor boy got a breakup call from me so fast. Cruel, but hey my dreams were in the middle of becoming true!!

The here and the now!

2024. The best nine years of our lives. If you’re reading this on this website, you have access to it because you know Josh & I better than others. We have so much love for each other and somehow it still grows every day. We’re still in the honeymoon phase after all these years, and it feels so good. We can’t wait to have you celebrate this long journey of love with us on our special day, which is actually nine years to the day I agreed to be his. We’re so excited!
