Getting There

Transportation

We recommend flying into Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), and taking the TGV high-speed train to reach Strasbourg. Here is what you should know:

1. Book Your Train Tickets in Advance

Reserve in advance on: SNCF Connect (https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en).

Search for: “Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV” → “Strasbourg”.

There are about 3 to 6 direct trains throughout the day and they usually sell out, so we recommend booking early. Additionally, this weekend is a federal holiday in France, so booking early is extra important.

2. Find the Train Station

The TGV station is in Terminal 2. Once you land, follow the signs for “Gare TGV / Train Station.”

Landing in Terminal 1 or 3? Take the free CDGVAL airport shuttle to Terminal 2, then follow the same signs.

It’s all well-marked and the signs are both in French and English. This website also outlines how to go from the different terminals to the train station with pictures: https://easycdg.com/travelling-terminal-2-tgv-rer-station-cdg-airport/

3. The TGV Ride

Most trains are direct, no connections or Paris city transfers needed.

Travel time is between 1 hour 50 minutes and 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Expect comfy seats, space for luggage, and usually Wi-Fi (though it’s still French Wi-Fi… so manage expectations).

4. Arriving in Strasbourg

You’ll arrive at Gare de Strasbourg, right in the heart of the city. From there you can likely walk to your hotel of choice in under 20 minutes, take the tram located to next to the train station, or a taxi/uber.

Once in Strasbourg, there is no need to rent a car, the city is very walkable and serviced by numerous public transport options.

Helpful Tips

Give yourself 1.5–2 hours between your flight landing and the train departure to account for any delays and long customs lines.

If your flight is delayed, most ticket types allow you to switch to a later train.

Keep your ticket QR code handy—they scan everything here.
