It all kind of started because I thought Dillon was cute and followed him on instagram in high school. We then became friends on snapchat later on, but we don’t remember who added who or started snap chatting the other. It was probably me though if we’re being honest. I then tell my wonderful match maker friends that went to high school with Dillon (Kaylee and Emory) about me snap chatting him. They were all for it and really pushed it. They would convince me that Dillon liked me and tell Dillon to date me.. apparently he listens. He then finally asks me to hang out and of course I was too excited.
Our first date is a very funny story actually. The first night Dillon and I hung out we went to eat mexican in Pontotoc (of course) and then rode side by sides with some of our mutual friends in the ice. I made a complete fool of myself and fell multiple times in the ice. I’m really not sure why Dillon decided to keep hanging out with me after that, but boy am I glad he did. We continued to hangout every weekend for a month. After a month, he asked me to be his girlfriend. In the past, I would’ve said no and thought it was too soon but not with Dillon.
We became best friends so quickly, and it just made sense to be with him. We have so much in common with how we grew up, how we view things, what we want our lives to look like, and what we want in a partner. I have always heard that there’s a “honeymoon phase” of when you’re first with someone and it’s only fun for so long, but I know that’s not the case for us. We just celebrated our four year anniversary of dating, and we just keep growing closer and having just as much fun as we did when we first started dating.
Dillon has shown me what true love really is and changed my whole mindset on love. One thing I do know is that nothing is better than dating and marrying your best friend. The one that you can tell anything to and never have to worry about if they’re being loyal, going to judge you, or ever give up on you. He’s taught me how to be a better me and continues to amaze me with who he is every day.
