Four years ago, the Lord decided do a little something. Lexi had recently moved to Fort Wayne for school. She was focused on good grades and that’s the only thing that could occupy her mind.
Suddenly, Lexi started making new friends, which lead her to meeting more people. After a quick meet out and about, thanks to a mutual friend, Reece and Lexi went months without seeing or thinking of one another. However, that quick meet led to a double take glance. They both happened to be ordering drinks at the same bar and exchanged a wave. Reece proceeded to walk over and greet Lexi with a hug and stated, “You look nice.” Nobody looks good, sweaty, in a crowded bar, but the gesture was kind. Haha.
After an Instagram follow, and a few text messages later, they went on their first date. It was full of laughs, exchanged smiles, and ended with Lexi telling a friend she was a “smitten kitten.” She continued to be loud and affectionate, while Reece was quiet and reserved.
However, as it often happens in good love stories, the tables turned. Reece went from casually chill to smitten himself. Suddenly, Lexi was no longer just the nice looking girl, she was his person.
Reece showed his love not with grand gestures, but in quiet moments: sitting beside Lexi while she studied, content just to be near her, making sure she had eaten (probably because she’s easily hangry), and calming her in the midst of all storms. The devotion shown by Reece is what made Lexi fall in love the most.
Now, four years in, they are not just a couple anymore. They are teammates attempting to master the art of patience and lifelong happiness. They spend their time going on many dinner dates, occasional bike rides, and drives to get a sweet treat from Zesto. They love traveling and hope to do so more in the near future.
Thank God for an unwanted move to Fort Wayne and a sweaty hug in a bar.
