Travis and Lexi met on August 6th, 2018 at a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) event on the SMU campus. Travis was heading into his senior year at SMU, while Lexi was only a junior in high school. Of course, nothing transpired after that conversation. However, if you asked Lexi, she would say that Travis was everything she dreamed of in a future boyfriend. After few further interactions, they reconnected in April 2022 when Lexi reached out to Travis, with no further intent behind it, asking if he would like to volunteer at the JDRF Gala. Lexi called her best friend, Kiara (Maid of Honor) who was also volunteering that night and told Kiara that her “future husband” was going to be there. Travis and Lexi chatted frequently throughout the event and then Travis asked Lexi to dance to a Journey cover band and later walked her to her car at the end of the evening. Two or three days later after exchanging a few text messages Travis asked Lexi to go to Cowboys Red River for two-step dancing (they had fun!) followed by Lexi having her first honey butter chicken biscuit from Whataburger. It was soon after that the couple was smitten with each other and Travis asked her to be his girlfriend that June. Somehow Lexi was not kidding when she said her future husband was at the gala, as they became forever best friends on November 30th, 2023. Travis got down on one knee and asked Lexi to marry him after sending her on a scavenger hunt that took Lexi to significant locations in their relationship. Lexi received flowers and handwritten notes from Travis at each stop. This relationship has been a testament to the Lord's faithfulness and the timing of His plans. The couple can't wait for what is to come and start their forever together when they get married on November 16th, 2024!
