Stephen and I met in 2018 at a college event. I was an intern at the Oaks with the young adults. We hosted a bonfire event and I was introducing myself to people around the bonfire and welcoming them in. Stephen caught my attention and I made sure to go over and introduce myself to him. I noticed his Blackhawk's hoodie which was cool to me because I love hockey and was intrigued. Since then, he has switched over to the Wild and cheers with me.
After that night we became friends and got really close. Before we started dating, we were best friends and would talk everyday. I took a trip down to Dallas to visit him and some other friends, and he asked me out on April 7, 2018. We had our first date at the Galleria, which is a big mall in the area and stopped at Taco Bell after and chatted almost all night long.
We were long distance from the start of our relationship, so we didn't really know anything different. It wasn't always easy but we worked hard and made it work. We took turns visiting each other and had a lot of FaceTime dates.
The longer we were dating, the more we tried to visit each other. He ended up moving up to Milwaukee and was an intern at LLC. When he was so close I was able to see him every week sometimes, but mostly it was every other week.
Stephen has been my best friend practically since we met, and I am so happy to say that we are still best friends and always will be. We got engaged on October 10, 2020. He took me to Arneson Acres park in the Minneapolis area. We both love hanging out at parks, going on walks or having picnics. When we got to the park, we walked around for a little while and then he brought me over to the fountain that was there and got down on one knee and proposed. Obviously I said yes!
Since then, we have been busy getting ready for the best day of our lives and planning our lives together.
