The family you see before you was born out of one loving old woman’s idea. The beginning of the Wheeler family story goes back to the spring of 2018 when two unacquainted souls were about to be intertwined by a power unbeknownst to them at the time.

May 2018

After having a very interesting first year of my college studies, I did not have much of an idea how my future was going to look. I had come out of a longer term relationship and wasn’t exactly hitting the dating scene due to my busy schedule between school and work. Then one day I was at a bowling tournament in Rolla with one of my best friends (Anthony) and his girlfriend (Jordan) when I was given a number with a name attached to it of a girl that was pointed out to me at a recent party that I had worked. After being told that I should message this girl I was both unsure of myself and what I should do, but after a few hours of convincing from my friends I went ahead and sent this girl a message, setting in motion a series of events that would change the trajectory of my life for better than I could have ever expected.

Within the next week we met face to face out at dinner, it was nothing fancy, just a family and friends dinner at a now defunct Steak N Shake. I remember just trying to be myself, just the right amount of weird, nothing too crazy and not trying too hard to impress. I do fondly remember picking this beautiful girl up in my arms after chasing her round the parking lot a little bit after dinner. Maybe a little more crazy than I thought Haha.

From that night on I had more of a smile on my face and these feelings in my chest that made me happy every time I got a text from her, or every time I looked at my phone screen and saw the picture of her I saved as my lock-screen wallpaper. These feelings grew more after our friend’s Birthday party when we shared our first kiss, unknowingly confirming our friend’s Grandmother, Sandy, that her plan had worked.

It all started my senior year, I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life as well as trying to make the most out of having time with friends when I could. Little did I know things were going to change in a way I’d never expected.

I was asked to attend a work party for my friend’s mother with my friend Jordan, the decision that I was attending set things in motion. With me attending the party the plan was put in place for me to be introduced to this guy everyone thought would be good for me.

After the night of the party it took him a little bit to reach out to me. Once he did we set up a time to meet. This encounter wasn’t anything crazy; he met some of my friends and I, who were doing some prom shopping, at the mall. Later we went to Steak ‘n Shake for dinner. That night was when everything changed.

That dinner was when I knew he was special. We became inseparable. If we weren’t in person together we were either texting or on FaceTime. Since that night on, almost 7 years now, he has always known how to make me feel special.

Throughout our relationship we have done things a little out of normal order; from moving in together and having our first daughter, Haven, in 2019. Finding out we were going to be having our second daughter Zoey in 2020. Then Covid happening and delaying our future plans. After a few years we found out we were having our third daughter, Samantha, in 2023 and we were also finally in a position to buy a house for our family to grow and create memories. Now our fourth child, Johnathon, is on the way.

Over the years we’ve accomplished many things; and now we are looking forward to officially saying “I do” and spend the rest of our lives together with our beautiful children in this amazing family we have created.
