Lexie & Daniel

Where it all began.

Daniel and I met our freshman year of high school (2012). We shared the same friend group throughout our high school career, but that is how it all started. My best friend at the time was dating Daniel’s best friend at the time and they introduced us to each other, we instantly clicked. We did the whole thing where we talked, texted and walked to class together, everything young freshman kids do. Until one day he walked me to my science class and before going in he gave me the sweetest hug and asked me if I would be his girlfriend and if we could go on a date. Of course I said yes, and if I do remember our first date was to see an iron man movie. Time goes on we went to our first homecoming together in the fall of 2013 (sophomore year). Things got a little crazy our junior year of high school. I left Oakhills to go to Diamond Oaks for a career opportunity, and I was nervous, this is a change, the only time I’d get to see Daniel or our friends would be on the weekends (I do not like change). I was scared that things wouldn’t be the same, but Daniel assured me, as long as we are in it to win we would be just fine. We were! We went to homecoming our Junior year (my favorite outfit duo). And finally senior year came. We went to homecoming and prom that year, after prom was definitely better than actual prom. We both graduated together (May 2016) and looked forward to what our future held for us, not knowing a dang on thing we were about to do with our lives. Flash forward a year of working and just having fun with family and friends, Daniel decided to go back to school for HVAC so that he could start a career. After a year of schooling, he graduated and started a new job. From there we both just worked so that we could do the fun things we wanted to do. In May of 2019, we bought our first house together, yes it was the home Daniel grew up with, but it was now our home. Shortly after that came COVID and a very rocky road for the both of us. Of course every relationship has the good, the bad and the ugly. It took a lot of bad and ugly days, weeks and months to finally get to the good (we don’t need to go into detail). We always came out on top, stronger than before. After a couple years of COVID and learning more about one another and how to go on with life, we continued working our but off to do fun things in life, improve the house, get new vehicles, all the things growing into a young adult consist of. During this period of time we also did a lot of traveling, just to see what is out there in this crazy world. In June of 2022, Kayla (Daniel’s sister) had a sweet little bundle of joy that Daniel and I instantly fell in love with, he now takes up a large majority of our time to the day. In October of 2022 is when Daniel FINALLY popped the question while we were on vacation in one of our most favorite places (TN/NC). We were on a week long vaca in Gatlinburg, doing almost everything you could think of, all the attractions, hiking, sight seeing etc. One of those days we took a day trip to Cherokee, NC just to drive through the mountains to see all the beautiful fall colors. Along the way there was a nice little pull off to the side of the road near a creek and of course I wanted to stop and admire the beauty. Me being the child I am sometimes, I was hoping along the rocks of the creek bed while Daniel was desperately trying to keep up with me and not fall in and get wet, finally he just went back over to the side and waited patiently for me to come back over as well. We took a cute selfie sitting on this neat tree nearby, that is when he got down and asked me to marry him, it was such a surprise. It didn’t hit me until we got into the car and I started balling my eyes out. It was such an sweet intimate moment I will forever be grateful for. To follow up our exciting moment we traveled into the town of Cherokee, found a Mexican buffet and called our family members. Everyone knew except me, how they were all able to keep a secret, I still don’t know. Let the planning begin!! We were going to do an elopement in the Smoky Mountains the following year, but then decided to wait one more year to celebrate our big day with the whole family. Over these past two years of planning, baseball became a very large part of our lives. We have traveled to roughly 6 different stadiums and have been to what seems like a million Reds games. It’s been crazy planning a wedding and being involved with baseball but it truly has been the most fun experience yet. Now that the time is getting closer and closer we have really started to focused on planning and finalizing our special day. It will be here before we know it, be the best day ever and the beginning of our new chapter in life.
