As many of you know, the story of our first date is a good one. Tyler and I had officially been introduced to one another about a week prior, when I mentioned that I had wanted to go skydiving at some point in my life. I did not think much of it and certainly did not expect him to book us to go skydiving at that moment, but he did. He had booked us to go skydiving August 29th, just a few days later.

The day of, it was all so spontaneous and exciting that neither of us really grasped the fact we were about to jump out of a plane. We had a long drive from Vancouver to Abbotsford, it was filled with laughter and a lot of the little jokes and memories we still laugh at today.

Tyler being Tyler, maintained the same level of excitement once we boarded the plane, while my nerves came full force. He was so reassuring and I truly do not think I would have made it out of the plane if it wasn’t for him calming me down.

Right before we jumped, he asked me if I was ready for my “last first kiss”. Now, thankfully I am still here today and everything went smoothly but he was right.

I may be a bit biased, but, definitely the best first date story I’ve heard.

Throughout our entire relationship thus far, Tyler never fails to absolutely amaze me with everything he plans. I remember my friend referring to our dates as “bachelor style dates” when we first started dating. She was right, with everything he does, they have all been so romantic and incredibly special and the story of how he proposed reflects that as well.

For Christmas 2022, there was an oddly shaped present under the tree for me labelled “fragile”. I had zero clue what it could be. He saved it for last. After opening it, inside a few boxes, there was nothing fragile but a national geographic magazine with the instructions to pick any place I wanted to go. I have always wanted to go to Italy and I knew Tyler loved the idea of us going to Europe together, so my decision was made. I was beyond excited.

Fast forward to the trip, May 20th we left for Italy. I had a feeling a proposal was coming. Maybe not so much of a feeling, but a wish that it would happen. I knew very early on that Tyler was my person and that one day, he would be my husband. Once we arrived in Positano, Tyler informed me that he had a few surprises for me.

Thats when it sunk in, that we really might be leaving as an engaged couple. The day of our surprise, was probably the first day I saw Tyler nervous. He was pacing around our Airbnb and photographing everything. He walked me down to the dock, where we boarded a gorgeous boat. After being out on the water for about two hours, the boat driver had switched the song to “Until I found you” by Stephen Sanchez and he proposed. I have never cried as many happy tears, as I did then. There aren’t words for me to describe just how happy I feel that we found each other, and that we exist at the same time.

I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day.
