The first time Lexy and Joey met was March, 2017, in a packed minivan driving 14 hours to Spring Break from Old Dominion University to Panama City Beach, Florida.

September 2018

A year and a half later, on September 22nd, 2018, Old Dominion was playing Virginia Tech in football in one of the biggest games in school history. Joey and Lexy both unknowingly stumbled into the campus bar, The Edge, at the same time. Lexy was accompanied by Kelsey Whitlow, when Kelsey decided to order herself, Lexy, and Joey tequila shots. About 5 minutes later, Joey asked Lexy out to dinner. Lexy and Joey missed ODU defeat Virginia Tech in the biggest win in school history but began writing their own history that day.

The following week, Lexy and Joey went on their first date to Striper’s Seafood at Waterside District in Norfolk. After dinner, the couple watched the sunset over the river and went to see a movie.

May 2020

Lexy and Joey began their long-distance relationship in the midst of Covid when Lexy moved back to Northern Virginia while Joey stayed at ODU pursuing his Master’s Degree. The two would visit each other every couple of months until July of 2021 when Joey moved to Northern Virginia.

July 2023

Lexy and Joey got engaged in Aruba on July 9th, 2023, on her family vacation. Joey surprised Lexy with his family being there. Now they are planning their wedding and can’t wait to celebrate with everyone.
