One of the premier visual arts museums of the South features an outdoor park with works of art, trails and a live music venue/theater. One of Gabby's favorite places to go, growing up in camps there, visiting for art class, and spending countless date nights with Liam in the galleries.
Outdoor lovers can use 22 miles of hiking trails, 13 miles of bridle or mountain bike trails, camp, fish and paddle all within the nearly 6,000-acre urban recreational area. The park is located only 15 minutes outside of downtown Raleigh and is a favorite hiking spot for Liam and Gabby.
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences delights, entertains and educates nearly a million visitors per year with fascinating exhibits, both featured and permanent, about the natural world. The museum’s four floors are divided into two parts—the Nature Exploration Center (where you’ll find the Terror of the South) and the Nature Research Center, an unmistakable architectural icon that opened to much fanfare a decade ago. Exhibits range from detailed dioramas to actual ecosystems with living animals—all of which can be explored through various self-guided tours.
Smart, modern and a little unexpected, CAM Raleigh (Contemporary Art Museum) is hands down a favorite among locals, and for a good reason. Every exhibition is unique, bold, highly memorable and designed to be thought-provoking and transformative. Opened in 2011, this expansive, light-filled gallery space is now free admission!
This is where Liam and I got engaged! The Sarah P. Duke Gardens consist of approximately 55 acres of landscaped and wooded areas at Duke University located in Durham, North Carolina. There are 5 miles of allées, walks, and pathways throughout the gardens.
With more than 350 beers on tap, passionate mind Niall Hanley’s Raleigh Beer Garden has one of the world's largest beer selections, made official when representatives from Guinness World Records visited in 2015. Located in downtown Raleigh's Glenwood South entertainment district, the venue has plenty of outdoor space, including a rooftop "garden" with seating that makes it the perfect warm-weather hangout. And this beer garden does more than just beer—a full dining menu includes everything from handcrafted pizzas to cheese and charcuterie plates.
Morgan Street Food Hall, the highly-anticipated, multi-vendor food hall located in downtown Raleigh’s Warehouse District, One of Liam and Gabby's favorite Drinking Hidden Gems, Auntie Betty’s Gin & Absinthe Bar, is located in a hidden corner of the food hall.
Transfer Co. Food Hall, housed in a 43,000-square-foot renovated warehouse in downtown Raleigh's Olde East neighborhood (just a few minutes on foot from the North Carolina State Capitol), saw its first vendors begin to open to the public in early 2019—it quickly became one of the city's hippest hangout spots from morning to night.

Trophy Brewing Company is a three-barrel nano brewery in downtown Raleigh featuring a full bar and growlers to go. Their beer is something, often unique, and always tasty. The bar is comfortable and their staff is well versed in the way of zymurgy, small talk and making you feel at home.

Whiskey Kitchen is a hip destination for inventive, regionally-inspired dishes, craft cocktails and an extensive selection of over 300 whiskies from around the world. The former garage space sets a relaxed and welcoming tone, whether you’re seated indoors, admiring the rows of whiskey against the backdrop of a dramatic feast-themed mural behind the bar, or on the spacious patio with a prime view of leafy Nash Square across the street.

One of the best places to grab a beer in Raleigh, with one of the largest selections of hand crafted beers in the Triangle. Home of the "Beer Knurd," infamous Pint Night Mondays, great beer selection, great decor, and a fun atmosphere. Liam and Gabby could sit in there for hours, reading every plate on the ceiling, awarded to those have tried at least 200 different types of beer.

Known for its upscale finds, and also friendly for the entire family, North Hills may make it too easy to spend the whole day browsing the racks of designer clothes at Gena Chandler or Vermillion, shopping for china and crystal at Quintessentials and picking out monogrammed stationery at Paper Source. After (or in between) shopping stops, grab some food and a handcrafted brew at local favorites like The Cowfish at North Hills, Vivace or Yard House.
One of the fastest-growing towns in the South, Cary is home to renowned restaurants, great shopping, top-tier arts and entertainment and unique outdoor experiences. The downtown area has seen an influx of fun, new local businesses in recent years—a brewery, bottle shop, neighborhood bar, boutique hotel, bakeries, revitalized arts experiences and more now line downtown's thriving Chatham St.
Take a stroll through the quaint, pedestrian-friendly downtown area to see colorfully restored buildings that house thriving businesses. Apex is home to Liam and Gabby, who both grew up there, meeting at Apex High School. Some of their favorite places include the Beer Market Highcraft, Scratch Kitchen & Taproom, and Salem Street Pub.
