Libby and Justin first met in August 2019 on the volleyball courts during freshman orientation. While chatting with a group, they discovered they had a class together—Intro to Intelligence Analysis. They also realized that Libby had already added Justin on Snapchat (most likely through Quick Add, as she often added random people back then!).
They soon learned they both grew up in nearby circles—Libby went to Mount de Sales and Justin to Mount St. Joe—but somehow never crossed paths at the usual mixers. Ironic, right?
Throughout that semester, they became casual friends, often helping each other with homework and class projects. But their first year was cut short by COVID, and like many new college connections, they drifted apart during the long break.
It wasn’t until sophomore year that they reconnected. Over time, their friendship grew stronger—and eventually, it turned into something much more
Libby and Justin still can’t quite agree on what their real first date was.
Libby insists it happened in late winter or early spring of 2021, when they went to Bonefish Grill near school. She remembers them sitting on the same side of the booth, both ordering the same thing. (For context: Libby is famously a picky eater, but she didn’t want to seem high-maintenance in front of Justin—so she just got whatever he ordered!)
Justin, on the other hand, swears their first date was a late-night Sheetz run. Libby got a milkshake, he grabbed some food, and he paid for her milkshake—so obviously, that counts.
To this day, they still debate who’s right, even polling friends and family for their opinions. (For the record, most people side with Libby—lol.)
After four years together, Justin finally popped the question—but not without some pressure! Libby had been not-so-subtly encouraging a proposal for a while, often complaining about how long it was taking. At one point, she even warned him: “If you don’t propose by year five, I’m proposing to you!”
Around Mother’s Day 2025, Justin told Libby that his mom—who splits time between Maryland and South Carolina—wanted to celebrate early while she was in town. The day before, Libby’s mom insisted she get her nails done, which was suspicious since Libby almost never does her nails. Libby spent most of the day wondering if something was going on… until an Orioles game distracted her. Later that night, while talking about the "Mother’s Day celebration," Justin told her to wear something nice. Libby blurted out, “Justin, are you going to propose to me tomorrow?!” (May 2, 2025).
The next day, Justin picked Libby up and said they were scouting parks where he could go fishing. When they got to the park, Justin tried leading her toward the proposal spot—but Libby insisted on visiting the dog beach first.
Eventually, they made their way to the right spot. Libby got suspicious when Justin wouldn’t let her leave. Then, Justin reached into the bottom of his pants pocket (where the ring was buried under his keys and wallet—very on brand), got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him.
Libby was in shock and thought he was joking. She kept asking, “Are you serious?” But, of course, he was.
