Jarrick and Libby first met in May of 2013. Libby went to the University of Northern Iowa where Jarrick's older brother Jarrett also attended school. While studying for finals together Jarrett told Libby his brother Jarrick was going to be in Cedar Falls for the summer. All three of them plus some roommates got dinner together in the cafeteria and that's where Libby first met Jarrick. After chatting some they decided to meet up and play Frisbee together...the rest is history! Libby and Jarrick dated long distance while she finished school at UNI and Jarrick finished school at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD.
In the summer of 2015 Libby and Jarrick embarked on a European adventure through Paris, Rome, Florence, Bologna, and Lake Garda, Italy. After adventuring through Paris and Rome they arrived in Florence, Italy. That afternoon Libby wanted to walk around the city, explore a little, and eat dinner early at a local restaurant since the two of them hadn't eaten since 12pm at the Rome train station. Jarrick had other ideas...he convinced Libby to take the bus up to Piazzale Michelangelo which oversees the entire city of Florence.
The sight was absolutely stunning, but soon Libby started to get hungry and wanted to go back down to the city center to eat a nice Italian dinner. Jarrick wanted to stay later until sunset, and reluctantly Libby agreed. There were several food trucks at the look out, but Libby wanted an actual dinner. As the sun started to set and no food had been eaten Libby had just about reached her limit. She was hangry!
Luckily, Jarrick came to the rescue and bought a bag of potato chips and a bottle of wine. While they munched and sipped Jarrick asked Libby to go take a picture together over by the railing. "Why can't we just take one here?!" said Libby. Jarrick convinced her to go over by the railing, and before she knew it he was down on one knee asking one of the most important questions of his life! SHE SAID YES!!!! The end of the night consisted of *finally* at 10pm, eating dinner in the city center and celebrating together.
The rest of the trip was spent enjoying their newly engaged status and eating copious amounts of gelato, pizza, and pasta before Libby met up with the rest of her family and Jarrick flew back home.
