Lily and Seth matched on the Christian dating app Upward. They both joined this app after both of their siblings ended up finding their husbands on there, so they gave it a shot. Depsite the (at first) overwhelming distance, they gave long-distance a shot and began to fall hard for each other. Many nights were spent texting, on the phone, playing games online together, and praying consistently for a sign and for confirmation that they were each other's match. God did not hesitate to make it known more and more with each passing day, giving prompts and signs to both Lily and Seth.
They had their first in person date at the Cincinnati Zoo. From the second they saw each other, it was overwhelming how right it felt. The chemistry was there, the butterflies were there, and the overwhelming peace was there. Afterwards, Seth offered to drive Lily home, and ended up staying three days in Ohio, meeting the whole family, getting cozy on the air mattress in the den, and even attending church before heading back home. Peace and love was abound that weekend. Even Seth's lifelong allergy to cats was completely gone, and the cats themselves fell for Seth too (something Lily prayed for!)
The couple spent this time traveling to and fro, meeting all of each others families and continuing to grow the strong foundation of their relationship through prayer, conversations, and lots of quality time. The four hour drive paled in comparison to the long, sweet days that they spent together. God was moving in the relationship and continuing to provide insane amounts of confirmation. Memories were created as the heat of the summer began to give way to the beginnings of autumn.
Seth got a job at Cedarville University and moved to Ohio-- and into an apartment in the same complex as Lily! With long-distance coming to an end, the relationship strengthened and blossomed with long days spent together, family quality time ensuing, and establishing a life as a couple in Ohio.
After many adventures in Ohio & Kentucky, including two birthdays and starting graduate school, Seth proposed to Lily at the Pinnacle-- a park up in the mountains where the borders of Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee meet. Afterwards, Seth surprised Lily by inviting all of her family down to Kentucky to celebrate. That weekend was filled with love, fellowship, and excitement for the future! Both of them have trusted God and walked in faith from the very beginning of the relationship, and are beyond excited to see how He continues to move in the years to come! He has been so so good.
