Mike was an MSU student during 2010-2015 and Lily was an MSU student from 2012-2015. Lily worked at the local bar Harpers Restaurant Brewpub during 2013-2015 and Mike often frequented that bar. Lily and Mike never met or recall running into each other in the 2 years they overlapped at MSU. Mike insists he would've remembered "The cute Asian bartender at Harpers" and Lily insisted she would've "never dated anyone so skinny".

Fast forward a few years.

Mike puts on 30 lbs and Lily and he matched on Hinge on September 9th, 2019 when he quickly messaged her "Hello" that day. Of course in typical Lily fashion, she didn't respond. Mike then messaged again on September 13th and Lily still proceeded to not answer. Mike then messaged Lily again on September 16th - of course again, she did not answer. In his final attempt on September 21st Mike messaged Lily once again. Admiring the persistence of Mike; Lily finally messaged back and they went on their first date. The rest is history and here we are engaged on September 21st, 2023.
