It was as random and serendipitous as life can get. Sean was walking to class (likely late but calm) and Lily was walking back to her dorm (likely early but anxious).

For whatever reason, on that day while walking down a path on UVM campus Lily "popped" an earbud out and said, "Hey" to Sean as they passed each other.

That quick interaction sparked other random bump-ins and lead Sean to find out (from asking Lily) that Lily actually lived in the same dorm, just one floor below him. About a week later, on a random weekday, Lily heard a knock on her door and figured it was one of the girls from down the hall. But much to her shock (and dismay) she heard a deeper-than-expected voice on the other side saying, "Hey, it's Sean". Panicked but with no real way out, Lily opened the door and to Sean's surprise she was wearing a green face mask. (spa day!) Un-phased, Sean went through with his initial plan of asking Lily to Bike Prom to which she said yes to. She invited him in and they chatted for a few minutes before she said, "ok, I seriously have to take off this facemask I'm so embarrassed" and Sean shared that it had been the perfect way to level the playing field and made him feel more comfortable. Of course, they both smiled and laughed.

Well... since then there's been almost a decade of life well lived. Between summers apart, studies abroad, long distance, cities, careers, puppies, and moves. There's a lot to love and their relationship has evolved into the rock it is today.

But at the end of the day, that spark and laughter captured in the first 30 seconds is still the real reason that we are celebrating their lifelong union this Summer. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you in the Green Mountain State!
