Our Wedding

The event of the year, J-Dated, rolled around December 2022. Freshman Lily and Sophomore Tai arrived with their friends to the club in Washington, DC that the UMD Jewish community rented for the annual night of dancing and schmoozing. As Tai was expertly showing off his dance moves, Lily danced right up to him. It was love at first sight and they danced the night away. What started as a chance encounter quickly turned into something much more. After many coffee dates (hot chocolate with whipped cream for Tai), walks around campus, DC adventures, crazy family vacations, and maybe a quick trip to Vegas (just to see Adele, duh), the two knew they had something special. With every moment, their bond grew deeper, and it became clear that their journey together had only just begun. As the years went on, Lily and Tai navigated their college experiences side by side — through finals, becoming chefs in their college homes, teaching Lily tennis (Tai is a very patient man), and many sushi dates along the way. They celebrated academic achievements, cheered each other on through internships, and found their rhythm as a couple and as best friends. Graduating together was a bittersweet moment, marking the end of an era, but also the beginning of a new adventure. Now, with college behind them, they’ve traded in College Park for Washington, DC, where they’re ready to build their future together. With so much joy and gratitude to Hashem, they’re very excited for what comes next as they embark on this next chapter of their lives together as a team.
