Our Story

Lily and Michael met only 11 short months after Michael moved from Knoxville to Charlotte. Lily moved to Charlotte right after graduation, and both Lily and Michael were very focused on their careers. Lily and Michael met on Hinge, a dating app, and went on their first date at Merchant and Trade in August of 2021. They hit it off and could have talked all night! In fact, they talked for so long that all the dinner spots were closed by the time they'd finally picked up their phones, so they capped off the night with some chicken tenders from Graham Street Pub. They've been inseparable ever since! Michael and Lily connected over their love of sports, sense of humor, active lifestyles, and family values. Michael said he knew Lily was the one after she took him to his first Panthers game on their fifth date and he saw her passion for life! Lily fell in love when she and Michael went on their first long weekend vacation together to Denver, and she knew he was the one when he chased her around on a scooter to 12 different spots, while wearing a t-shirt with her face on it, during the Charlotte Marathon. After just two short years together and Michael’s 2-21 losing golf record head-to-head at the Country Club, Michael proposed to Lily at Merchant and Trade, the same location as their first date!
