It all began on the first day of sophomore year. Lily spotted Nate across the bustling halls and immediately developed a crush on him. Lily couldn’t shake the feeling that he was someone special.

Their first date was at Main Street Bagels in Grand Junction on December 2nd, 2019. Nate had been hanging out with his friends beforehand, and in a moment Lily would never forget, they all formed a line to introduce themselves as she and Nate sat together. It was equal parts awkward and charming—a perfect start for two teenagers falling for each other.
Not long after, Nate asked Lily to the movies. It was at the end of that night, with the credits rolling, that Nate casually declared, “So… I guess this makes you my girlfriend.” Lily couldn’t help but laugh at his boldness but secretly admired it.
However, Lily had a rule: no dating until Nate met her parents. Nate rose to the challenge, meeting her mom, Elissa, and earning her approval. With that, their story officially began.
Their first year of dating was filled with adventure and small, meaningful moments. Long car rides became their sanctuary—talking, listening to music, and teaching each other new things (like the time Nate taught Lily how to ski). One of their most unforgettable adventures came during their first camping trip in Ouray. It was the perfect mix of disaster and delight.
The trip started with Nate forgetting the stove, leaving them to go hungry on the first night. As if that wasn’t enough, a curious critter rummaged through their cooler the next morning, forcing them to rethink their camping game. Nate redeemed himself by buying a stove, and they turned the trip around with an epic day of via ferrata climbing, soaking in the hot springs, and sharing a well-earned lunch. But the second night brought an unexpected visitor: a bear.
In a chaotic mix of panic and teamwork, they set off their car alarm, grabbed their essentials, and spent the night huddled in Nate’s jeep. It was terrifying at the time, but now, Lily never lets Nate live that night down.
Their relationship is a testament to love that grows through shared laughter, resilience, and an adventurous spirit. From the halls of high school to the wilds of Ouray, Lily and Nate have written a story full of joy, mishaps, and unforgettable memories.
