As all great stories start, one night at a bar… which I had no intentions of going out that night, yet there I was sitting at Stocks n Bonds with friends. I was people watching and Zach had walked into the bar and I took a nice long look at him, turned to my friends stating he was cute. Greg, one of my friends knew Zach and asked if I wanted to meet him to which I quickly answered, “no”. I was not looking great and wasn’t interested in meeting anyone that night.
However later in the night, Zach finds his way to our table… turns out Greg is not a very good listener. :)
Greg had found Zach at some point that night telling Zach he had someone he wanted him to meet. Zach was on the opposite side of several round high bar tables we had pushed together. Within minutes of him being at our tables, we miraculously became the only two sitting there; where the heck did everyone go!? In an effort to not make things weird I moved down and sat closer to where he was standing. He was staring at people dancing on the dance floor, with what appeared to be no awareness that another person remained at the table with him. To break the ice I looked at him and said, “Do you just come here to watch people dance?” (Zach later told me after we were officially dating he found my comment rude LOL)
Zach looked at me and said “no”, then proceeded to ask me to dance (clearly my comment wasn’t all that rude). We went out on the dance floor, where he quickly proved he in fact could dance. He then offered to buy me a drink and we soon spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know each other. At one point, I had shared I graduated high school in 2014 and Zach quickly said oh you graduated before me. At this point I was thrown, he had a whole beard, looked 30 and now I have to question if this guy is close enough in age for things to not be creepy. Turns out he graduated in 2015, I was very relieved.
We ended the night with Zach walking me to my friend, David’s car since I rode with him to the bar. We exchanged numbers and soon planned our second date as Zach told me that night this was our first date. On our second date I asked him to stop at PetSmart to get my kitties cat food. He went along with it and that is when I knew he might be a keeper.
We have now been together for 3 life changing years! (Zach has grown to be a great cat dad)
