Our Wedding

Phil and Linda met serving in the projection booth at St. Mark's in 2012. He worked the early contemporary service and she worked the later traditional service. They swapped notes about music selections and scriptures between services. They dated for a few months and then went their separate ways. When Pastor Nate and Elinda Steury returned from Kafakumba Africa to do their annual missionary visits back in the states, Phil and Linda would chat and catch up. After one of the Steury's missionary visits in 2017, Phil asked Linda out again. Linda then invited Phil to join the crowd at her Suntree home for the Hurricane Irma relief party. After that, the couple started dating again. At Thanksgiving 2018, Phil and Linda traveled to Covington, Georgia and stayed in the family home on Church St. They enjoyed Thanksgiving dinners with Phil's family in Atlanta and friends in Monticello. Frank and Kay Turner hosted a gathering to help Phil introduce Linda to Phil's parents' friends in town. The Cohens had a clothing store on the square in Covington for over 100 years. In March of 2019, Phil and Linda made a southern tour to visit the Texas relations. Phil's Houston cousin Steve and his wife Susan took them to the rodeo where they watched Brad Paisley perform. They visited Linda's sister Nancy and her husband John in Fort Worth and sampled some fine Tex Mex cuisine. Phil's southern manners made a great impression on Linda's mother Pat during the visit. The couple also visited friends in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia where Phil's brother Lee lived. Phil surprised Linda on Christmas Day 2019. When she opened a gift, there was a handbag with a Matryoshka, a Russian nesting doll tucked inside. The tiny doll at the center was replaced with a beautiful engagement ring. Daughters Erika and Eva were on hand to take pictures and share in the excitement. Even Covid-19 couldn't spoil the plans for a family vacation to Grand Teton and Yellowstone in June of 2020. Daughter Elsa and partner Brian drove in from Broomfield Colorado, daughter Erika and husband Jamie flew in from Tampa and daughter Eva flew with Phil and Linda from Orlando. Phil drove the rented minivan while the family members shouted out wildlife sightings. The Floridians especially enjoyed the cool temperatures and beautiful scenery. Not to mention the sheer relief of leaving the house after months of "safer at home" living. Linda and Phil are so thankful for the loving support of friends and family here in Melbourne and around the country. Phil recently celebrated 30 years at L3Harris here in Melbourne, Florida. Linda is teaching her 20th year at West Shore Jr/Sr High. Phil has been a member at St. Marks United Methodist in Indialantic for well over two decades. The couple attends services at both St. Mark and Suntree United Methodist. You will want to meet their local "family" the small group Faith Oddities.

We want you to feel safe at the wedding, so we have taken the following measures to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission. &nbsp;Saint Mark’s church requires masks indoors.&nbsp;We will use socially distant seating. As of January 17, 2021, Saint Mark's has not had regular indoor worship since March 2020. The cocktail hour at the Eau Gallie Yacht Club will be outside on the deck overlooking the Indian River Lagoon.&nbsp;This area has a canopy covering and will be ours to enjoy all evening.&nbsp;The reception will be in the dining room adjoining the deck. The club has agreed to open the sliding glass doors to increase circulation in the dining room. March temperatures average 58 degrees F in the evening to 78 degrees F in the daytime. We request that you wear a mask except when eating or drinking. The Eau Gallie Yacht Club staff will be masked. There will be sanitizer stations and a Covid table with disposable masks if you need one.&nbsp;There will be a buffet dinner. There will be disposable gloves by each chafer on the buffet to limit touch points in serving. We will use social distancing wristbands in red, yellow and green to indicate your level of comfort in social contact:&nbsp;&nbsp;Green-I have antibodies-time to celebrate!Yellow- I am comfortable in a group, but no hugging, pleaseRed-Kindly keep your social distance, but I am smiling behind my mask.
