A love for the outdoors and the north brought these two souls together. From a beautiful friendship grew a deep rooted love for both nature and one another. From one adventure to the next these two knew that they were meant to adventure together for the rest of their days.

What is the weather like in Thunder Bay in August?

Believe it or not, it is quite warm in August. Temperatures can range from a high of 30C to a low of 11C. The event venue is down at the harbour where winds can cool even the warmest of days. Bring an extra layer/ shawl for your comfort. The event is entirely indoors but we have the full patio for guests to enjoy.

Will there be Children at the Reception?

While we love your children and ours, this will be an adult only event with the exception of infants less than one year of age and our wedding party. Thank you for your understanding.

Is the event indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are all entirely indoors at the venue. Exceptions would be any time spent outside around the venue to enjoy the marina or the patio.

Travel by Air

If you are travelling by air, you can fly to YTZ Thunder Bay International Airport. If you are travelling from Toronto, there are direct flights to Thunder Bay from Billy Bishop and Pearson International Airport. If you are travelling from Windsor, there are flights to Thunder Bay from Windsor Airport with a connection in Toronto.There are accommodations near the airport that provide a shuttle service to and from the airport. Please see the accommodation list for more details. Taxi service is also readily available from the airport. There is no Uber service in Thunder Bay. URIDE is an Uber-like service in Thunder Bay. The airport is approximately a 20 minute drive to the venue address. There are also rental car agencies for vehicle rentals if you have an extended stay and wish to do so.

Travel By Car

If you wish to drive to Thunder Bay, Highway 17 around the north shore of Lake Superior is stunning this time of year with many scenic lookouts and places to stop. There are two main driving routes to Thunder Bay from southern Ontario. Please consult a GPS or Maps for specific directions. Route 1: Highway 17 (recommended) This will take you from Barrie around Georgian Bay and the north shore of Lake Superior. This is by far the most scenic and enjoyable driving route. Although the drive can be made in one day, taking two days to make the entire drive during daylight hours will make this drive much safer, more enjoyable and allow time to stop at scenic beaches and lookouts. Sault Ste. Marie is the best place to stop for the night and is exactly halfway from Toronto to Thunder Bay.If you are driving from Windsor, you can shorten the drive by multiple hours if you come up through Michigan and cross the border in Sault Ste. Marie. Route 2: Highway 11 This will take you through the muskoka region and then much more north. This drive is flatter and is almost entirely through wooded areas. There are less places to stop and much less to see. Please reach out if you have any questions at all about traveling to Thunder Bay

Places to Stay 

The Delta Thunder Bay will be the most convenient and recommended hotel to stay. It is directly next to the event venue. There is a wedding room block reserved with a special rate for our wedding guests. This hotel is 15-20 mins from airport. Please use the link below to book your room and access the special rate. Both of these locations are very close to the airport and 20 mins from the event venue.
