This story starts in the most modern of ways... online! And to make it even more modern, it begins right at the height of the pandemic in 2020. Both Lindsay and Sean were contemplating giving up on the whole dating endeavor altogether, because how in the world would it even work to meet new people mid-pandemic? Fortunately they did not give up so easily, because just a couple more swipes right and they both found someone they were determined to find a way to get to know better.

They spent three solid months getting to know each other in a virtual dating world of emails, video calls, and book clubs. And finally - as they were perhaps beginning to wonder if they'd ever actually meet - a distanced outdoor walk was planned. Lindsay came prepared for a short casual stroll and potentially a coffee, while Sean planned an eight mile trek of adventure. A few hours later, soaking from surprise rain and with Lindsay limping with the world's largest blister - they couldn't wait to do it again.

Over the next two years they enjoyed many adventures together: road trips fraught with near misses and wild animal encounters, three big moves and address changes, Sean earning his Ph.D. as well as the trust of Lindsay's picky cat Suki.

In early October 2022, Sean surprised Lindsay with a scavenger hunt. He drove her to visit the Crown Point Vista House overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, and then to the top of Mount Tabor Park in Southeast Portland. He finally took her to Cathedral Park in St. John's neighborhood at sunset. In the fading daylight under the St. John's Bridge, he got down on one knee and asked Lindsay to marry him. It was the easiest question she's ever answered.

Sean and Lindsay can't wait to begin their next adventure with all of you in Troutdale, Oregon this June! With the backdrop of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, they are looking forward to celebrating with all of you together.
