Lindsay and Trace met in Mr. Lape's 6th grade history class at Battle Ground Academy in 2015. Lindsay was so embarrassed that Mr. Lape picked her during the very first week of school to hand out papers to the class. After handing Trace his, Lindsay sat down at the table across from him. He jerked his head forward and a pencil flew out at her! He remembers that she gave him a little smile when she handed him the paper; and that's when she caught his eye, but she was also kind of scared of him.

Later that semester, they both had to sit out of recess for accidentally not writing "I pledge" from the honor code at the top of their tests. While they sat their outside the library, Trace did his best to impress her. But most of the time he teased her and acted incredibly goofy, and she laughed a lot! Although, he told her later that he did NOT like the sparkly lip gloss that she was wearing.

In the spring of 7th grade, they both joined the middle school track team which was when they fast became best buddies. Lindsay secretly had a little crush on him for a short time that year. The next year, they both were the only two 8th graders selected to move up to the high school varsity track & field team to compete in the Region Championship. And they both advanced to the State Championship! That following fall as freshmen, they both made it to the Cross Country State Meet solidifying their love for running for BGA which they continued throughout their cross country & track high school careers.

In the summer before freshman year, they started hanging out more outside of school and Trace secretly had crush on Lindsay. By the summer before 10th grade, he confessed his feelings to her...but...she said they shouldn't ruin their friendship by dating. So they continued being best buddies.

Fast forward to cross country season in the fall of senior year: they were the best of friends, but people all around just knew that they actually liked each other, despite their denials. Turns out, it wasn't long until they starting dating in November. Trace asked Lindsay to officially be his girlfriend on March 30, 2022, and they decided to stay together in a long distance relationship when they went to college. And they've been together ever since!

Trace proposed to Lindsay on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Harlinsdale Farm which is where they had run many miles for cross country, took senior prom portraits there with their classmates, and went on many picnic dates. He surprised her with an engagement party immediately afterwards at their friend's farm with their closest friends and family. Since then, they've been having fun planning their wedding for March 2025.
