Our Wedding

Lindsay had decided to move to Kamloops for a temporary 6 month work contract in the summer of 2022. Nearing the end of her time in BC, she was set up on a blind date with Matt. The two met at a local restaurant, sat down, and started chatting. Next thing they knew, 4 hours had flown by and they knew there was something special between them. Lindsay admitted to Matt that she would be moving home to St. Albert for 6 months for knee surgery, but was hoping to return after. Matt was not concerned, and their time apart flew by with numerous FaceTime dates, allowing their connection to grow stronger through communication. After reuniting in Kamloops, the following months consisted of spur-of-the-moment 17km hikes, tons of ice cream dates, and plenty of laughs along the way. The long drives back and forth from St. Albert to visit Lindsays family were easy together, and many adventures were had en route. When Matt took Lindsay to the Island for their summer vacation in 2024 they hiked up to a view point overlooking Cox Bay in Tofino where he proposed, and she said YES! The two then celebrated with tacos (obviously)!

Jade and Lindsay met at a young age when they were enrolled in the same Girl Guide group. The friendship grew stronger as they entered Junior High and High school together. They played crib with seniors, enjoyed sunset picnics on paddle boards, and bonded over Blizzards. The two even ended up riding the 7am bus to University together, sharing their stories and stresses along the way. Lindsay is so thankful to have Jade with her for all of life's chapters, especially standing up beside her at the wedding.

Matt met Jon back in his Redline days, where they honed their automotive mechanical skills. They continued to bond over their passion for pranking as well as BBQ-ing, which is when the annual Gout Night was born. Their friendship really heated up when they began their amateur firefighter careers (ask them about this later). Matt admires Jon's dedication to his family, and to his garden. He couldn't imagine not having him by his side for these important moments. 

Jonathan Freeman

As Lindsay's older sister, Lauren was constantly coming up with creative ways to keep her sisters busy. From "Jump over Jesus" (ask her about that one later, too), to filming/directing home movies, and paving the way through life for her two younger sisters, Lauren always makes life entertaining! She is definitely someone from whom Lindsay seeks advice and looks up to.

Matt and Zack also met at Redline. They became work neighbours when Zack moved his employment next door to Family Glass, but their relationship continued to grow. Building cars, attending car shows, many rounds of golf and dedicated gym buddies, they were inseparable. Although Zack recently joined the RCMP and moved to Houston (10 hours away), these two continue to talk daily!

Zack Lusk

Danielle is Lindsay's younger sister and "twin." The two have shared lots of moments such as hiking mountains, running Bloomsday, and playing on the same competitive soccer team beside one another. Danielle was also Lindsay's first roommate when she bought her home in St. Albert, bringing them even closer together! Danielle never fails to make Lindsay laugh, listen to her wild ideas, and support her along the way.

Yet another member of the Redline alumni, Matt was Jenen's apprentice. They had lots of adventures together, including living in an old Winnebago for two weeks touring Vancouver Island. Jenen and Matt quickly became like brothers and still work along side one another at Honda today.

Marin is Lindsay's younger cousin, fondly referred to as her "Mini Me." Although there are years between them, Lindsay and Marin have grown closer as Marin has looked to Lindsay for advice on life's crusades. As well, Marin keeps Lindsay "hip" by informing her on all the new slang terms and social media trends. The two share a love for staying active, baking, and just being plain goofy together!

Nic and Matt met each other in Grade 10 Math where Nic took a seat behind Matt sporting a full grown beard, leading everyone to believe that he was an undercover cop. They share a passion for hunting and fishing, and are always planning their next hunting trip. Matt also had the privilege to stand beside Nic for his wedding in 2023, and couldn't be happier to have Nic stand with him at his own!

Nic Bernier

Natalie was the hygienist who went on maternity leave, allowing Lindsay to cover her position in Kamloops for the first 6 months. Natalie was ALSO the one who set Matt and Lindsay up on their first blind date. Since then, she has played an important role in Lindsay's life as they now work at Horizon Dental beside one another, laughing about the similarities between their significant others, venting about tough days at work, and enjoying each other's "tell it how it is" honesty. I guess we have a lot to thank Natalie for!

Natalie Lannon

Sean and Matt briefly met through Redline (surprise!), but their friendship really kicked off when Sean recruited Matt to work with him at Nissan. They bonded on their work trips to Richmond when Matt turned the hotel room thermostat as hot as it would go, which led to Sean pouring water on Matt while he was sleeping. Then there was their hunting trips when they had to share a bed and Sean decided to punch Matt in the middle of the night ("in his sleep"). Sean is also Natalie's husband, consequently also playing a role in getting the happy couple together. You could say these two couldn't live without one another!

Sierra was the first friend that Lindsay gained in Kamloops. After endlessly trying to find somewhere to rent, Lindsay stumbled upon Sierra's listing for a basement suite, and Sierra happily responded yes to Toby and Lindsay moving in (she really just didn't want to sift through all the other applications). It wasn't long before the two went on a hotdog date, numerous dog walks, and watched way too many crime documentaries together. Safe to say, Lindsay and Sierra are now as close as Benny and Toby are!

Toby is Lindsay's beloved golden doodle puppy (well, he's 3, but will be a forever puppy). Matt and Toby became instant best friends as he let him lick crumbs off of his fingers the first night they met. Since then, Matt has been the best dog dad one could ask for, providing Toby with lots of fishing dates, hikes, and treats!

This campground is about a 10 minute walk away from the Venue, or a 2 minute drive. You can book a campsite as early as 4 months prior to the date of your stay.

There are also a number of great hotels in Kamloops itself, which is located about 30 min away from the Venue!

Travel

There are hundreds of fantastic fishing spots all around the area. Feel free to ask Matt for any tips!

Fishing

Whether you want an easy 10 min walk in nature or a day trip climbing a nearby mountain, a birds-eye view of a lake or meandering through wildflower meadows, there are plenty of trailheads nearby.

Hiking

For those who want to sit back and relax, there are two wineries and a cidery on the outskirts of town, as well as many breweries downtown! Privato Winery and Woodward Cidery, as well as Brighteye Brewery are some of our faves!

There is a Farmer's Market that goes on every Saturday morning in downtown Kamloops, from 8:30-12:30 filled with delicious baking (and samples!), fresh produce, and neat artwork... just be back in time for our Ceremony please! ;)
