Everyone says we should have met years before we finally did. Who knows? We might have walked right past each other and did not know. We attended Auburn University at the same time, had mutual friends, and our moms went to high school together. But fate would not have us meet until matching on Bumble in September 2023.

The universe threw some curveballs in our first few weeks of dating, including having to reschedule our first date at La Paz due Daniel’s car having a flat tire and our first kiss while Lindsey unknowingly had Covid. Since then, time has flown by from our weekly Wednesday date nights, attending multiple Auburn sporting events, to our first vacation together (Auburn vs. Maryland in the Music City Bowl), attending church together, and multiple family functions and holidays.

During that time so many memories were made, multiple great conversations were had, and a love was forged between us that is greater and more powerful than either of us could have ever imagined or prayed for.

After a year of dating, I (Daniel) decided to propose. I wanted it to be a surprise so, the weekend of the Auburn vs. Georgia away game, I suggested to Lindsey that Saturday morning that we go to brunch that morning, go to an art show in Homewood and then watch the game that afternoon at the house. What she didn’t know though, was that after we finished brunch, I was going to suggest that with it being such pretty day that we should take a stroll through the Birmingham Botanical Gardens where I had a photographer hidden and lying in wait. As we strolled through the Japanese gardens, I got down on one knee and asked Lindsey if she would make me the happiest man in the world and marry me. She said yes and we then celebrated the next day with our families at an engagement party.

Lindsey and I could not be more excited to be getting married this summer in Auburn and we are looking to building our life together! I am looking to further to seeing how God will continue to bless our lives as we continue to learn and grow together. We are both grateful for our amazing families and friends who have supported us along the way.
