We swiped right!
We met on Bumble, where Lindsey started the conversation with a casual "Hello", but Shaun was more interested in knowing about Lindsey's dog, Josie.
After talking for a week online, we made plans to meet on a warm, sunny afternoon during the September long weekend in 2019 for a walk in the Edmonton River Valley. Shaun insisted Lindsey bring Josie along, who was more interested in barking and chasing the squirrels in the park than going on a casual stroll. We ended up walking and talking throughout the River Valley for over 4 hours, only ending the date because the sun started setting, and Josie grew tired of the squirrels. Before leaving one another that evening, we already made plans to meet up again, and haven't stopped since.
November 2019, Shaun deployed to Iraq where we took our relationship back online, exchanging messages and phone calls when we could. February 2020, we were fortunate enough to travel together throughout Bali on Shaun's HLTA for a few weeks before the world shut down from the pandemic.
Unfortunately, prior to Shaun's return home in June 2020, we found out Shaun had been posted to Toronto, where he is still working and living. Once again, we were back to a long distance and mostly online relationship. Lindsey flies almost monthly to Toronto, with Shaun coming out west whenever he is able. We've learned to embrace our Toronto lives becoming avid Toronto Blue Jays fans, attending Toronto Raptors games and travelling throughout Ontario.
In May 2023, after too many flights back and forth to Toronto, 3.5 years of dating and countless hours apart, Shaun proposed in the living room of Lindsey's home with Josie's assistance.
We are looking forward to not only being married, but to FINALLY be living in the same province together and spending much less time apart from one another.
