Hey ladies and gents, Lindsey here...ok so, a little back story on Jamie and I. I decided to try the whole online dating thing, which I wasn’t too stoked on, but I thought I’d give it a try.&nbsp;I had been talking to Jamie for about a month before we had arranged for our first date.&nbsp;He was working nights at the prison as a correctional officer and&nbsp;I worked during the day. Finding a time that worked for both of us was difficult. The day comes when we had arranged our brunch date and I got a text from him about 45 min before we were supposed to meet. The text said the truck he was driving had broken down and he wasn’t going to be able to make it.&nbsp;I genuinely thought he was giving me a line but me being the nice person I am, asked if he needed a ride.&nbsp;Never in my wildest dreams did I think he would say yes.&nbsp;Whelp, he said yes…. I was a little worried because I didn’t want to pick up a man on the side of the road whom I had never actually met. STRANGER DANGER! The only reason I ended up picking him up was because I had talked to him for so long.&nbsp;Long story short the first time I met him in person I was picking him up on the side of the road.&nbsp;Best decision I ever made. He is still completely mortified by this whole story.&nbsp;He maintains to this day it was THE most embarrassing moment of his life.&nbsp;It was a total meet cute!!! This was nearly three years ago and the rest is history. Jamie proposed on Christmas Eve 2020.&nbsp;He asked my parent's permission beforehand and got down on one knee…for as many ways as I like to be different, I am equally traditional. Both asking permission and getting down on one knee were especially important to me. The ring Jamie proposed with was Stirling silver which unfortunately, I am allergic to.&nbsp;He mixed up stainless steel and Stirling silver.&nbsp;I tried to wear it but I just couldn't. We ended up designing a ring made from Jamie's diamonds and family diamonds. The ring has stones from Jamie, my Great grandmother, and a couple diamonds from my mom's wedding ring.&nbsp;The only input Jamie had when we were designing the ring was to put rubies in it because it is his birthstone.&nbsp;So guess what? My ring has rubies! I was so bummed I couldn’t wear Jamie's ring but the ring I got in the end, ended up being even more special to me than I ever imagined. Our hashtag is #theAudettecouple; it’s a play on the Odd Couple TV show. His last name is Audette and we’re kind of an odd couple, it fits us perfectly.&nbsp;I am the country to his metal, the blonde bubbly girl who’s friends with everyone to, his all-dark clothes, quiet, more subdued nature. It’s true what they say, opposites do attract. Everything about our wedding is just a touch from “traditional”.&nbsp;My ring has rubies, his has dinosaur bone.&nbsp;He’s wearing black on black and my dress isn't white. We want burgers and pizza, not goat cheese and fig crostini. We have no interest in trying to be something we are not. Our Story

This hotel is the closest to Jamie and I and will be the most convenient for family members coming in from out of town. Jamie and I are about a 7 minutes drive from this hotel and the wedding venue is about 20 minutes away.

This hotel has BEAUTIFUL views of the ocean and boasts one awesome brunch on Sundays. If you are looking for the iconic California beach views, this is the hotel for you! This hotel is a bit pricier and about 35 minutes further away from where Jamie and I live. However, this hotel is only about a 20 minutes drive away from the wedding venue.

The Cliffs Hotel and Spa

Relax at the Kon Tiki Inn located in beautiful Pismo Beach, California.&nbsp;At Kon Tiki Inn every room has a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. This is an older hotel but is very well kept up and clean. Enjoy stairway access to miles of sandy beaches, complimentary continental breakfast,&nbsp;on-site restaurant, complimentary use of the Pismo Beach Athletic Club, and other outstanding features. This hotel is going to be a little less expensive than The Cliffs Hotel but you will still get the iconic California beach views. The Kon Tiki Inn is about 30 minutes away from where Jamie and I live. However, this hotel is only about a 15 minutes drive away from the wedding venue.

The Bob Jones trail is a well-paved county-maintained bike and walking trail also known as the City to the Sea Trail. The trail starts across the street from the parking lot on Ontario Road, right off Highway 101, and ends in downtown Avila Beach.The trail is great for all levels of hiking and biking. It makes for an enjoyable, smooth and (mostly) flat ride with trail benches sprinkled throughout. Dogs are welcome on the trail but please pick up after them!The Bob Jones Trail wanders next to San Luis Obispo Creek, right behind the Avila Valley Barn fields. Enjoy walking by the fields and depending on the time of year, you might just catch the the sounds of frogs and flowing water. Hard to believe it’s so close to the beach!From the trailhead parking lot to the end of the Avila Pier is 3.0 miles.

Bob Jones Trail Head

Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, built in 1772, is the fifth California mission founded by Father Junipero Serra. The present building was built in 1793 and 1794. The Old Mission still holds regular church services and is the backdrop for the city’s prized Mission Plaza, a two-block public open space built along San Luis Obispo Creek. It includes a large public plaza, seating areas and pathways. Museums, quaint restaurants and cafes. An array of eclectic shops and boutiques line the downtown streets.

Unfortunately, Covid is something we have to plan for. I have spoken to all of my vendors and if Covid is still an obstacle when the wedding is closer we will be moving our reception to the following year but same date....10/30/22. However, Jamie and I will still be getting married on our original date. We strongly encourage anyone and everyone who plans on flying to buy trip insurance, just in case we have to move the wedding. The wedding and reception are all outdoors so we have that going for us. At this point it looks as though we should be fine but we never know what the future holds.
