It all started with a 2:00am search on online dating site. Thankfully neither of us could sleep. Lindsey says, “Carl’s profile picture stood out because he looked handsome in his leather jacket, standing by his motorcycle. I also liked that he had real interests listed.” Lindsey sent the first questions about which sci-fi series do you like, what are you looking for in a woman.
So the spark started with sci-fi series and Carl’s answer to what he was looking for in a woman…Who knew sci-fi series was a pick up line?
By October, we were Face Timing and calling regularly. We laughed and talked for hours.
Our first in person date was when Carl picked up Lindsey from the airport and took her to the restaurant at Kelly’s Inn. So awkward— 2 people from 1600 miles away (from different climates, one from burning desert and one from freezing ice bucket)— but as we sat and talked, we connected.
When we got lost in a corn maze, we shared our first kiss. (It is a good thing we didn’t burn the maze down with the sparks that were flying.) *We had many other in person dates and many trips back and forth. And they were awesome!
By Christmas Lindsey had a feeling we were headed toward wedding bells(but she had to wait for Carl to realize this.) On May 15,2023 Carl proposed before taking Lindsey to the airport! Before heading to the airport, Lindsey asked, “Is there anything else we need?”, running through checklist of things for flight. Carl replied, “There is something else I need”.
Carl looked at Lindsey. Lindsey stared at him and asked, “Ok, yeah what is that?”. And Carl got on one knee and asked, “Will you become my wife?”…
And obviously, I said yes!!!! I am very excited to marry Carl, a good hearted, kind man who accepts me for me, and who makes me smile and laugh, and brings me so much happiness everyday! ( I will have to practice my signature as Lindsey Reibestein— so many letters!)
