Our Wedding

Lindsey and Michael both started at the University of Virginia in the Fall of 2014. They spent their first year of college just a few hundred feet apart in UVA’s historic Old Dorms, but it wasn’t until their last year that they finally met. The night they were introduced by a mutual friend, Khari, Michael texted his high school group chat, “Guys, I have a situation. I met my wife.” From the moment they met they became inseparable, first developing a strong friendship that grew into something more over the next few months. After graduation, Lindsey and Michael moved back to their respective homes in Richmond and Charlottesville. Michael spent the next few months traveling to Atlanta for work every week and flying to either Richmond or Charlottesville any given weekend. The couple quickly grew tired of spending so much time apart, and while on a trip to visit Lindsey’s dad in Florida, they fell in love with an apartment in St. Petersburg and signed a lease on the spot. Coincidentally, just a few weeks before moving in, Michael was put on a fully remote long-term project that allowed him to work from home for the duration of their time in Florida.&nbsp; While this was a big step and somewhat spontaneous decision, it ended up being the best one they could have made. While in St. Pete they experienced newfound independence and adventures and only grew stronger as a couple. After a year and half in Florida, Lindsey was accepted to UVA’s Masters in Counselor Education Program, and so the couple moved back to Charlottesville yet again. This time they lived just a mile from Michael’s parents in a beautiful apartment overlooking the mountains.&nbsp; Once becoming a Double Hoo, Lindsey accepted a School Counseling job in Falls Church and the couple moved into an apartment in Arlington, Va, where they lived close to their college friends for the first time since graduating.&nbsp; At this point in their relationship, Michael had long been sure that he wanted to spend forever with Lindsey, and now that they were settled into their new lives he started putting together a plan to make it official. He planned a trip to Stanly Ranch in Napa where he proposed under the property’s giant infinity sculpture, a special moment that was captured by their amazing engagement (and now wedding!) photographer. They spent the rest of the trip as a newly engaged couple enjoying the best that California’s famous wine region has to offer. Once returning home, they wasted no time locking down a wedding venue. Charlottesville was naturally the perfect location for the UVA couple, and Pippin Hill, known for its iconic views and delicious food and wine, was the dream venue. Lindsey’s dad was so excited for them that, after Michael asked for his blessing, he called Pippin Hill directly before they were even engaged. We are so grateful to our parents for their unwavering support and for helping to make our wedding weekend possible. We also can’t thank each of you enough for joining us on our special day and feel so fortunate to have such incredible friends and family. We are so excited for all that the future holds, but before then, we can’t wait for what we know will be an amazing and memorable celebration with all of our favorite people.

ACCOMODATIONS

We secured room blocks at the following hotel under the name&nbsp;Jacobs-Balaban. Follow the website link to make reservation. The hotel block is available between Friday, September 12th and Monday, September 15th.

Highly recommend booking ASAP! This is where the bride &amp; groom will be staying and is most convenient for guests as the Welcome Event will also be held here (9/13). Transportation will be provided directly to &amp; from the wedding at this hotel. Please note that rooms are first come, first served (50 max) and need to be booked by&nbsp;8/14/25&nbsp;in order to receive the block rate.&nbsp;Guests are welcome to add on Friday night (9/12) using the room block rate or just stay Saturday (9/13) &amp; Sunday (9/14).
