The conversation of marriage came up several times in the last 6 years--trust me :) However, knowing Colin, I knew he would ask when he knew I would least expect it (He always likes to keep me on my toes)

We planned a big trip to the east coast in Summer 2018. This was out first trip together as a couple, without family, and completely doing it on our own. Considering most of our relationship was spent long distance, this was a milestone for us and WE WERE SO EXCITED.

So, being together for so long really has grown our sense of humor in most things. However, this next bit of info was not one that I thought so funny. On several occasions while talking about all the ways we could save money or sign up for things together if we were married led to multiple "fake" proposals in the middle of our home. Not amusing to any girl who has been waiting for the real thing! Am I right? Anyways, with this in the back of my mind, I never knew when the real one might happen.

Fast forward to our Summer trip. We were heading from DC to Cape May, NJ where our friend had offered up his family home to bring us to the little beach town for the weekend. Colin seemed absurdly obsessed with the weather those 2 days and a "must do" walk on the beach. Colin+wanting to do outdoor things all on his own sparked my curiosity--Im usually the one initiating the outdoor activities. So we went to breakfast with our friends and then the infamous walk on the beach on the over cast day just catching a break in the storms. We walked under a pier and spotted some dolphins in the background. Obviously I asked for a picture of us with our feet in the water (Duh). When I handed Andrew the camera, Colin knew it was the time. After a few normal photos, Colin asked to take a funny one. Typical Colin. I made a face and reluctantly asked, "Ok, what do you want to do?"(Thinking--why the heck does he want to do that??)

The next think I knew, he was on his knee in the cold Atlantic Ocean! At first I assumed a "fake" proposal, but it all became real when he pulled the ring out of his pocket! Without even thinking, I went in for the biggest hug and kiss I think I have ever given him. He, still on his knee in the cold water, was holding on for dear life to the ring that had yet to be put on my finger in the excitement--the photo shows it all! I would hold on too, I mean we we're in the ocean. It was an exciting day celebrating with our close friends and calling all of our family to share the news!
