Our Story

ABOUT THE COUPLE

Lindsey was born and raised in Van Buren, AR. After high school she attended University of Arkansas Fort Smith and graduated with a degree in Biology.

Cody was born in Virginia Beach, VA. His dad was in the Navy, so him and his family traveled throughout his life and lived in many places. When Cody was in 9th grade, he started school in Batesville, AR. He graduated from there and went on to the University of Arkansas where he obtained a degree in Biological Engineering.

They now live in Bentonville, AR with their three dogs and one cat. Cody is an engineer for the City of Bentonville. Lindsey is a Case Manager for Walmart Claims Services at Walmart Home Office.

HOW THEY MET

Lindsey was in her last semester of college and landed a technician job in the City of Fort Smith environmental quality lab testing wastewater and drinking water. On the same day she was hired, Cody was hired at the City of Fort Smith as a Pretreatment Technician. He was gathering wastewater from multiple areas and businesses in the City and bringing the samples to the lab.

Any day Cody and Lindsey were both working, Cody was bringing water samples into the lab, then Lindsey would sign for them and test them. Both of them were secretly finding any reason to talk to the other. Eventually their coworkers forced the other's phone numbers into their phones. Cody texted Lindsey and asked to hang out sometime, and the rest is history!

THE PROPOSAL

The week prior had been the New Year, along with a lot of snow and ice in the area. That weekend on Sunday, the weather was supposed to be very nice compared to the last week, so Cody asked if Lindsey would want to go on a hike. They got up that morning and made some PB&Js, dressed in their wool under layers, and went out to hike in the 40 degree weather.

When Lindsey was getting hungry, she asked if they could find a rock on the creek to eat. She found 4 or 5 good ones and Cody kept saying "no let's keep going". They came up on a rock that was a little shaded and had a beautiful view of the creek. Cody bent down to get their lunch out and Lindsey saw some candy in the bag. Cody told her he had brought some surprises and asked her to close her eyes and decide left or right. She closed her eyes and put out her right hand, then felt a velvet box in it. She opened her eyes to Cody on one knee!
