We met on a random Wednesday night, September 7, 2022. I was out for a girls night and Austin was out for a guys night. The girls decided to hit up one more bar before calling it a night. We did not know it was that bar's night for live music, which they were doing a Beatles cover band, which is why Austin was there. The girls and I were gathered around the dance floor and I spotted this really tall, handsome guy with turtle tattoos on the back of his arm. I told the girls, "man he's really cute." Meanwhile, one of the guys Austin was with, came over to our table (at the time, I didn't know they were there together) and started talking to us. About 15 minutes later, Austin and his other friend came over. Now for anyone who knows me, I would never strike up a conversation with a random person, let alone that I thought they were cute. Well I thank the liquid courage that helped me that night because I walked right up to Austin and shot my shot with, "So what's your story?" While he began telling me where he was from and what he did for work, I was more focused on if he was single or not before I put even more work into this guy. We wound up really hitting it off that night, having our very first kiss right there, and pretty much shut down the bar. Later that night when I got home, I texted my mom... "met my husband tonight!" and here we are getting married!!
We got engaged on January 4, 2024 in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. Cape Cod is really special to us and one of our favorite places to visit. We usually spend all summer long making numerous trips to the cape. It was the morning after my birthday and I was still recovering from having a couple too many dirty martinis that night. We woke up to freezing rain/sleet and Austin was so adamant about going for a walk to the beach with Charlie (our black lab). This is not totally out of the ordinary since we always do this every morning we wake up on the cape but I was being a pain in the ass because of the weather and my slight hangover. We got to the beach and Austin starts walking to the complete opposite end of the beach than our normal routine. I must have asked at least 20 times in a whiny voice "Why the hell are we going this way?!" and was dragging my feet the whole way. Austin responds with "geez Lisa be a little adventurous!" Unbeknownst to me, my cousin was in disguise on that side of the beach to take pictures. We finally stopped walking and he tells me to turn around to look out at the water to "get an artsy" picture. I remember rolling my eyes and thinking, since when are you a camera man?! but still went through the motions of it. I turned around and 5 seconds later he calls my name and I turn back around and there he was on one knee and already crying. I automatically start sobbing and between the cries said "yes!"
