Lisa and Jeff’s story begins online in Fall of 2019 on a website called "Coffee Meets Bagel". Thanks to Lisa's unfamiliarity with the website, she put her mile radius at a generous 50 miles, allowing her to connect with Jeff in Buena Park from her current home in Northridge. And it's a great thing she did! Jeff and Lisa took things slow, with late night phone conversations and meeting occasionally in Torrance. Fun fact, their first date was at a Mitsuwa food court (very romantic!) due to both of their love of Japanese food.
Then, just as Lisa and Jeff decided to make things official, the pandemic hit in 2020. Virtual date nights quickly took over weekend day trips. But Lisa and Jeff were thankful for this time as they were able to watch all four seasons of “The Good Place” together. They also had more of a chance to get to know each other. Jeff loved how down to earth Lisa was, and her sweet giving nature to others. Lisa loved how Jeff was always there for her and took time to listen and value what was important to her. Once things became safer, they switched to outdoor dates, such as hiking, picnics in the park and sunset glazing. Their favorite was a cliffside sunset spot in Palos Verdes.
By September 2021, Lisa and Jeff’s love and connection had only grown stronger and they decided to take the next step: find a place together. Lisa got a job in Orange County and the two of them quickly found an apartment in Fullerton, California. Weekend only dates soon turned into nightly date nights of learning how to cook together, finding more shows to watch, and realizing that they could actually play a game of Overcooked successfully together. Lisa and Jeff also took some bigger trips together, visiting Washington DC, Hawaii, Portland, Joshua Tree and Cabo San Lucas.
As they approached the end of their lease, they realized they really wanted to settle down and find a bigger space. For the summer of 2022, they spent every weekend visiting open houses and imagining what their future could look like. After exploring multiple cities in Orange County, they realized they already felt at home in the city they were in. They switched their search to Fullerton homes and in just one weekend, they found the one.
As Lisa and Jeff settled into their new home, they were also planning a huge trip for the end of the year: Japan. While Lisa took the lead on most of the planning, Jeff was strangely absent. As it turned out, he was planning a bigger trip: a proposal.
On November 18th 2023, completely catching Lisa off guard the weekend before Japan, Jeff convinced her to visit their favorite sunset spot in Palos Verdes. Thinking he just wanted to visit his cousin (who lives nowhere near Palos Verdes), Lisa agreed. And on the edge of the cliffside, just as the sun was setting, he popped the question!
They could not be more thrilled for this next chapter of their life together to begin and are so excited to celebrate their true love with family and friends on November 2nd, 2024.
